Counting your Blessings

People think that I’m a really positive person. I am, actually. When it comes to talking to others about achieving their own success or when it comes to talking to business partners about future endeavors, my positivism really shines through. But when it comes to ‘myself’, I’m short of counting my own blessings. I lack in being grateful for the things that I have. I sometime blame it on having a type A personality, where everything isn’t enough. You strive for perfection.

Most of the things I complain about “in my head” is about not doing enough — enough for myself, my family and even for others.

Although, I realize that I have a lot of things that I should be thankful for, especially for these past few months. I don’t have my own grateful jar (like what my sister has), but I know that I have this blog that I can use to jot down things that I am thankful for. So, for last month, these are the things that I am thankful for:

Zeeka could already stand on her own.
My little 1 year old (and two months) can stand on her own. Although, she still doesn’t know how to walk on her own and needs to cling on to me, daddy, or to a bunch of Unilab Giveaways at home (the Doctor said she still has ‘confidence’ issues), I am grateful that she is healthy and strong as can be.

The Opportunity to be part of the Steps Project Movement

Last year, I was invited to be part of a team that advocates for Filipinos to have a more active lifestyle. That time, we all wanted to get fit and to be healthier. Our friend, Rovilson, who is also our chief ambassador for the movement told us that all we needed to do is to walk or move more everyday. Ever since I joined this team, I have been “Stepping” my way to a healthier body!

The Steps Project Movement

Last year was the year I got pregnant and gave birth. I had a Cesarean delivery (due to complications I had before), and the awful part was, I couldn’t go and do any strenuous activity right away. The doctor advised me to take it easy for 6 months, since we wouldn’t know if the operation is completely healed, and slowly go back to running after. In September 2013, I started walking, to slowly regain strength and endurance. To mommies here who have previously given birth, you know that our pre-pregnancy body is so hard to achieve! I really wanted to get back into shape so bad. In January, I had almost given up hope, but due to encouragement of this group, I really got into the groove and aimed to achieve that 6 pack by the end of the year.

so far, from my post-pregnancy weight of 155 pounds, I am down to 131 pounds (even lower than my pre-pregnancy weight of 140 pounds). I don’t usually post pictures of my tummy being seen, but to inspire women out there that achieving your body in college just months AFTER pregnancy is POSSIBLE, here is my picture.

Haha! I can now see the faint lines of my abs. I hope to fully see them by October, or even earlier! Come out, come out abdominals!

I am thankful for the EATS RIGHT! Movement
To further motivate women to achieve their fitness and health goals, my friends, Martine and Michelle, came out with this motivational women meet ups called Eats Right! Why did we choose that name? We believe that…

It’s right for every woman to feel beautiful.
It’s right for every woman to be healthy and sexy.
It’s right for every woman to love themselves first so that they can love others.
It’s right for every woman to have time with like minded individuals, who have the same goals as they do.
It’s right for every woman to have a support group that they can turn to when they want to achieve their fitness and health goals.
It’s right to be part of the EATS RIGHT! Movement.

Ladies, the Eats Right movement is about attaining better health and better bods by having that support group of women who will always have your back. What we also did is we partnered with brands that you love so that you can try out different activities and products to strengthen you and to keep you fit and healthy. For our first run, we are supported by these brands: Yoga Plus, Trainstation Studio, Nanay Lunches with Love, Go Steady, Without Limits and Curves Eastwood.
