JBL and Harman Speakers and Headphones for the Busy Entrepreneur

Technology is an important part on my life. Although I don’t watch TV at all (this is really true!), my laptop, mobile phone, earphones and speakers are my most treasured material possessions. I’m sure you get why my laptop and phone is important, but my earphones and speakers are important, too, because…

1) I listen to music from Spotify while working. Music relaxes me.
2) I listen to music or Podcasts while traveling.
3) I need my speakers because I normally watch You Tube videos and downloads using my computer.

Yes, I’m that type of person. Haha! So recently, I was thrilled to attend the Harman and JBL event. I know i’m not a tech blogger and gadget specs are not part of my vocabulary, but I really wanted to see the products of Harman and JBL and see how the products stand out from the others in terms of function, design and quality of sound. For those who are not yet familiar with the brand, HARMAN International Industries, Incorporated is the award-winning maker of outstanding audio and entertainment solutions. Harman has won 116 awards for 70 unique products from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), producer of the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), for its wireless sound systems that make use of Bluetooth and Near Field Communications (NFC) technology for just the past two years — how amazing is that!

“HARMAN recognizes the importance of providing stylish products that deliver not only high-quality technology, but also a sense of connectedness and we are very proud to introduce these new products to the Philippine market”, says Lauro Secreto, representative from Harman International Singapore.

“Applying the concept of creating products designed to enhance everyday life, these wireless systems are perfect for those who value constant connections not only to music, but also to friends, family and the world around them,” said Secreto.

I tried out and listened to the sound of the Harman Kardon Products and the sound quality was superb. I love the design, too. I’m just scared that if I purchase the ones seen above, my daughter who loves throwing things around might break these. She’s like me — we have this thing that with whatever gadget we touch, it suddenly gives up on us (without meaning to break it).

From all the products from Harman Kardon, I love this. This is the Harman Soho Wireless Headphones. I love it’s really classy and sleek design. What’s so cool about it is that you can change from one song to another by swiping the leather cover of your ear.

For JBL, my favorite product is this. This is the JBL Reflect. It can be connected via bluetooth, which I love because there is less wiring. I hate wires cause when I keep it inside my bag, with a thousand things, it gets all tangled up. It’s called reflect since the wiring has a reflector. It’s perfect for those who love to go jogging at night.

While creating this post, I’m actually using my own JBL Micro Wireless. I love it since the sound comes out really nice. I also carry it along with me now since I use it for presentations.

Learning How to Make Bento Boxes using Cheez Whiz

I recently got the chance to attend a Bento Making Class conducted by the Bento Mommas and which was sponsored by Cheez Whiz. I recently developed this love for making bento boxes. I love it because it brings out my creative side, plus, you don’t have to cook anything (I can just put together a Cheez Whiz sandwich all the time) and if you do, you can have someone cook it for you and you just need to creatively combine all the ingredients together. I really don’t know how to cook, but I promise that I will find the time when my daughter’s a bit older and if I really find the need to learn.

I love bento making because I get to use all of these colourful materials and ingredients. For the class, we had to make two bento boxes. One bento was a snack bento box, while the other one was a rice bento box for lunch. We started with creating the snack bento box with Cheez Whiz as the star.

We had to create our very own Snowman! It was the perfect theme for the Holidays. First off, we had to cut four pieces of circles from the white Gardenia bread that we were given. These were the materials / ingredients that we were going to use for the body of the snowman. Next, we had to spread the new variant of Cheez Whiz, which was the Cheez Whiz Milky Delight flavour. It’s the perfect blend of Sweet Milk and Mild Cheese. I love its sweet taste!

After creating the two mini circle sandwiches, we had to place them inside the container to create the snowman. After which, we had to decorate it with raisins, sour candy and chocolate. Check out my little unfinished snowman. The pieces were “glued” to the bread using Cheez Whiz.

My Bento Box Cheez Whiz Creation!

My Bento Box Cheez Whiz Creation!

The next bento box that we made was a rice bento box. I loved this since we made our own Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer! First of all, what we did was we got a Glad sandwich bag and scooped one cup into the bag. We formed the head of Rudolf and we placed in inside the container. We had to check on the size of the scoop of the rice by closing the container. We had to make sure that we had enough room to still place the nose, eyes, etc. without destroying the head.

Next we cut a heart using the bread and placed it at the middle of the rice, facing downwards. For the eyes, we used sliced cheese and nori and for the nose, we used tomatoes. For the antlers, we used pretzels. To stick all of these in place, we had to use Cheez Whiz Milky Delight again as our glue.

Again, for the bento box to keep its form, we need to fill up the box so the components won’t move. We placed chicken on the side and green apple again on the other end. We used broccoli to fill up the other parts. As you can see, the box is a balanced meal with food from the grow, glow and go food groups! This is my finished product.

Feeling Down Lately, Mommy? – 5 Things That You Can Do

I’ve been feeling down lately. I’m not the type who switches to depression mode. In fact, you will hardly notice that i’m feeling this way. I’m the type who always carries a big smile on her face. I dress and talk like i’ve got all bases covered and I sometimes give the people the perception that I totally get it. But, don’t let that fool you. I don’t have all the answers. No one’s perfect, dearies.

That’s the problem with social media. No one really posts pictures of themselves crying or sad or depressed. Everyone shares pictures of them in beautiful places and smiling & laughing with friends and family. Obviously, who would want to view those — it would be so negative, uninspiring and depressing. I got the urge to create this post so as to remind everyone that the real lives of people and their truth may sometimes be different from what you see and perceive it to be.

But if you’re feeling down and lonely, you can follow the things that I do:

A. Expand your world – I schedule meetings with people who I haven’t really gotten the chance to know. We exchange ideas and think of possible collaborations. I look for conversations and things that will inspire me. Recently, I got to meet the ladies of Angat Pilipinas Coalition for Financial Literacy. I got to know about this group when Burn Gutierrez invited me to help out in planning for an event next year. I love the energy and the mission of this group and I’m happy to be one of the consultants of this group.

B. Shop or just Window Shop – I try on clothes that I normally would not wear and sometimes, I just buy them. If I don’t have the budget to shop, I just window shop or try things on just so I get to see myself in a different outfit. Hey, I’m not just talking to women, okay? Men can also do the same thing. There is something about seeing yourself in an outfit that you would not normally wear.

C. Have a haircut or color your hair – There is something refreshing about strutting a new ‘do. I guess that’s why people cut their hair after break-ups. I’ve been feeling “un-glamorous” and tired lately that I needed a make-over. I haven’t cut my hair for the longest time. As for going to the salon, for any hair treatment, I think the last one was when I was still employed at my previous work. So, recently, I just went to the salon, sat and got a new hair color. I wanted to have Kiera Knightley’s hair in Begin Again, but I got scared of cutting it that short immediately, so I just had my long hair layered and colored.

D. Conquer fear – Do something that will give you a sense of fulfillment. Look for a cause that you believe in and join that group and make a change. Do you have a fear of heights? Try Flying Trapeze Philippines. Want to leave a legacy? Start writing that book that you have always wanted to release.

E. Look at the Bigger Picture – I got out of the shower this morning and a lot of things flashed through my mind — mostly on how lucky I am to be given a great family and great friends. I also thought about this great opportunity given to me to help other people achieve their own goals and to live life to the fullest. What I thought about this morning was that we only have one life to live, so why not do everything we can to help others and help make this world a better place for future generations. If each person would strive to leave their own “marks” in society, I think that nothing would be impossible.

When you’re feeling down, try to pick yourself up and empower yourself. Try to surround yourself with positive people. Most especially, try to look at the bigger picture. What are you here on earth for? Look at that bigger cause and make little steps every day to achieve that.
