Kid Ink with Amanda De Ocampo

My little girl loves to sing and act in front of the camera. We don’t tell her what to do. She naturally blurts out things when she’s in front of the camera and it seems like she really knows what to do and say. My daughter though is not so much into arts and crafts. This is something that I want to do more with her, since I really think art is very important. Personally, I’m not really good at drawing, painting, crocheting, etc., so I really admire people who are great at these things.

Case in point, I really admire my cousin, Amanda de Ocampo.

Had a lovely relaxing afternoon with my cuz! Let’s hang out soon and make our ideas happen! @amandadeocampo you rock!

Setting up a Blog or a Website using WordPress

When setting up a blog or a website, it’s good to know the basics of handling your content management system or CMS. The CMS is your window to everything that you want to do with your site. If you want to upload pictures, write an article, add a video, etc., you log into your content management system and you add them all there or edit or delete things from there. The content management system that I use for all of my blogs and website is WordPress.

I started using WordPress in 2008 and it was so convenient for me. Burn Gutierrez and I would like to share with you, through the Webinar Series called Enter Entrepreneurship, on how easy it is to start a blog or a website. We have invited Mr. Jerome Esperanza to help us demystify WordPress.

Jerome Esperanza

Who is Jerome Esperanza?

Jerome is an active freelance web developer and trainer for over a decade now and has built his web expertise from projects of various fields, specializations and areas, and has gained considerable web skills while working for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) funded Partnerships in the Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA), Accenture Philippines, American Recreation Club of the U.S. Embassy Manila, International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Department of Health (DOH) of the Philippines. He is also well versed in database management, search engine optimization and web analytics. Mr. Esperanza is a graduate of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (University of the City of Manila) with a degree in public administration.

He has consistently given seminars, talks, special hands-on courses and training to different sectors of the field – from academics, government and non-profits, training outfits to businesses companies and organizations.

He is now currently a short term consultant for the World Bank Group involving a trust fund web project, and also presently focusing on launching a business company and expanding the consultancy services to include other web and digital solutions to include web hosting services and digital marketing.

Who Wants to Attend the What to Know Before Giving Birth Talk? (Giveaway)

First time mommies and daddies! I’m so excited to share with you this post for today. Last March 16, I announced some of the upcoming parenting workshops from Manila Workshops and Best for Families. You can read about these parenting workshops in this link: Upcoming Parenting Workshops in Manila

In the past few runs that we have, I have come across expectant couples who are really adamant in learning more about parenting and about safely giving birth and raising a child. As there is really no certification on being a great parent, I admire these couples who really go out of their way to learn. I truly believe, just like in business or even in professional careers, people who have that insatiable thirst for knowledge and people who are not close minded are the ones who succeed.

For parents who constantly strive to be better parents and who constantly strive to know more by reading books, surfing the web, attending workshops, talking to other parents, etc., CHEERS! This giveaway is for you!

Make your own DIY Party

I love parties. I actually love preparing parties, too. I think a lot of moms are like me. We take party planning seriously and we want everything to be perfect. Karir na kung karir!

I always ask people whom I mentor to look within and to see what they are good at. In business, it is important to know yourself, your strengths and weaknesses, before you decide to take on a particular business. For those who know that event planning is something they are good at, the next step is really to learn everything that you can about holding an event or a party.

For those mommies or mompreneurs who want to know how to make your own parties or who want to make this into a business, my team at ManilaWorkshops.com has a great workshop in store for you. Oh, btw, this workshop is open to single or married ladies and gents who wish to be party planners either as a business or for personal use.

Make Your Own Kiddie Party

Make Your Own Kiddie Party

And we have great teachers for this workshop. The speaker are Ferdi and Czarina, who are the founders and partners of The Event Architects (T.E.A.), a styling company that creates unique, elaborate, and personal events for private affairs and commercial companies. T.E.A. has planned and styled the events of corporate clients such as Lancôme, Clear, Cosmopolitan, Yves Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, and Louis Vuitton as well as personal functions such as Sarah Meier’s wedding, a baby shower hosted by Amanda Jacob, and Tim Yap’s birthday.

Make Your Own Kiddie Party! – The Rerun will be on Saturday, August 23, 2014, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Insular Life Multi-Purpose Hall, 12th Floor Insular Life Makati Building, Ayala Avenue corner Paseo de Roxas Street, Makati City. Workshop fee is P250. This workshop is the fifth installment for 2014 of the Parenting Pals Workshop Series and is supported by The Event Architects and Insular Life.

For those who want to make this a career or even if you just want to learn so as not to spend for an events coordinator anymore, sign up now!

Pregnancy Tips from Mommy Ginger at the First Time Parents Workshop on Saturday

For those who know me, I’m really madaldal (talkative) ha especially when we become close. I also love it when we talk about children, business or money and earning money (lol!). As you all know, I hardly agree to speak in our own workshops. I would rather stay in the background and oversee these events and let my workshop directors take the lead and the guest speakers to take the center stage.

But believe it or not, I agreed to be a speaker for this Saturday’s Preparing for Baby’s Birthday for the First Time Parents Workshop which is brought to you by Manila Workshops and Best For Families Inc. I agreed because I wanted to share my own experiences and tips on preparing for your child’s birth day and preparing for your own pregnancy. labor and delivery.

EDITED-Project-50-First-Time-Parents-Preparing-for-Babys-Birth-Day_31

I think it’s different when you hear it from a real mom. A lot of workshops have doctors as guest speakers (which we will have, too, on Saturday), but seldom have moms like them who can talk to them on a personal level. I will also discuss mostly how we prepared financially for this part of our lives, so daddies, this might be interesting for you, too!

To those who are interested in signing up, feel free to sign up using this form:

What are your questions about pregnancy? What would you want to ask a fellow mom like you about pregnancy and labor and preparing financially? Feel free to leave a comment below!

Bears for Haiyan: A DIY Caridad Charity Bear Workshop (July 19, 2014)

I woke up from bed this morning and what greeted me was one white skinned with brown patches, furry little creature that kept on saying “mooooo!”. No, I do not have a live cow at home, but it’s this stuff toy of Zeeka with an electronic thingamajig for him to make sounds. Notice the use of “him” instead of “it”. I have been dancing, playing, signing and have been having a dialogue with these guys for quite sometime now.

Stuffed Toys of Zeeka

Stuffed Toys of Zeeka

What a diverse set of toys, right? These stuffed toys always bring a smile to my Zeeka. She calls each one “baby”. These toys have that effect on children. So imagine if we can bring such sources of joy to the children of Tacloban. Typhoon Haiyan happened around a year ago, and people seem to have forgotten it’s effects. The people there still feel the effects of the devastation that happened. To ease that, continues efforts must be done to be able to wipe away the tears and replace them with happy thoughts – especially that of the children of Tacloban.

Manila Workshops Luna BEME DIY Bears for Haiyan Poster

Manila Workshops, together with Luna MNL and BEME are happy to be able to be an instrument in creating happy memories for these kids through our workshop entitled, Bears for Haiyan: A DIY Caridad Charity Bear Workshop. We are inviting you, both young and old, to learn, have fun and bring a smile to the face of one child.

In this workshop, you will learn how to make your own stuffed animals while being able share what you have. Part of the proceeds of the bears are for the benefit of the children affected by typhoon Haiyan.
