How to Create your Own Parties!

Calling all those who want to be Event Planners or those who want to create their own parties! Due to the success of its first run, Manila Workshops, in partnership with Best for Families Inc., is bringing back the Making Memories and Party Planning Workshop! Through this 2-in-1 session you can learn how to document milestones and important events in your children’s lives, plan for your children’s baptism, and organize memorable birthday parties.

If you are interested to attend, it will be this Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 1:00-5:00PM at the #29 1st Street, New Manila, Quezon City.

Best of all, the speaker will be Ms. Michelle Katigbak-Alejandro. Michelle has always been passionate about creating. Whether as a writer, an editor, or a party stylist, she enjoys putting things together beautifully. The current Editor-in-Chief for Metro Weddings Magazine and a freelance party stylist, Michelle has collectively had over a decade of experience in events. From baptisms to birthdays to weddings, she has seen and participated in every aspect of special celebrations. In 2011 after having given birth to her first child, Michelle began a small party styling business with her good friend called Styled by: Sami & Bella. Their specialty was intimate events with tons of fun details. In early 2014, she merged her boutique styling business with Cuppy Puppy Bakehouse to become a one-stop shop offering both sweets and styling. An eclectic professional at heart, Michelle is constantly looking for ways to push past her boundaries. While writing and editing remain her first and true love she has been enjoying the styling and crafting arena as well. In 2014 she looks forward to more new experiences and definitely many more creative ventures.

Sangobion Shopping Event

During Halloween, we had a family get together. My titas and titos were there at the house. They were talking about health issues and sickness. I remember when I was in gradeschool, my titas and titos and parents were talking about children and the schools that we (me and my cousins) went to and I clearly remember that they were laughing at the fact that there were three tables talking about different things. Our table, during that time, was busily playing card games and talking about crushes. The last table, the table of my grandparents, were talking about health and sickness. Looking back, I am amazed at how time flies! Now, it’s our table who;s talking about children, tuition fees and the like.

As I listen to the table of my parents and aunts and uncles, my aunt was saying that she really loves and uses Sangobion. She was telling them of a time when she was always dizzy and when she took Sangobion regularly, all her dizzy spells stopped. I am also a believer of this product! That’s why, when they asked me to host their Sangobion Shopping Event, I couldn’t say no.

This event was such an exciting activity! 30 plus Sangobion ladies all won shopping sprees. They got to shop at stores in SM Aura and when they came back, they had to strut their stuff! Everyone looked gorgeous and amazing!

I am so glad and proud to say that I am a Sangobion lady! A lot of the things that I am doing as an entrepreneur and as a mom, I get to accomplish, because I have the energy for it. I can play with my baby go with her to her Little Gym classes, do household chores, manage a team and still write in my blog after with the help of Sangobion. It’s hard to manage your time but always remember that you need to think of what is your top most priority and have things revolve around that.

Sangobion really helps me love life! How about you? How has it helped you?

The Great Leap Academy

Can I tell you a secret? During my teenage years (until now actually, so paging all talent managers!), I wanted to be an actress. I didn’t want to be the star though. My dream role was to be the best friend of the star. I always thought, why not right? I was a good dancer. I took ballet, tap and jazz lessons since the age of 3 and stopped when I was 12. I could blurt out a few lines; I didn’t know how to cry on cue though. But, I didn’t think I was a good enough singer. My mom enrolled me for singing classes with Ryan Cayabyab, at the time Smokey Mountain was a huge hit, but I only attended 5 classes I think and skipped the rest.

Even if I didn’t get to be an actress, I am thankful that my mom enrolled me and encouraged me to love dancing and singing. I believe that music really makes ones life more colorful! With Zeeka, I will really help her appreciate music, but I think she’s already very musically inclined. She loves dancing and singing! But I know that my role as a parent is to encourage and further enhance this skill.

I was really happy that we, as mom and daughter, got to experience going through the Music Together Class of The Great Leap Academy. Have you heard of this really wonderful program? They were actually part of the Work-at-Home Weekend Expo where they gave a demo class. For those who are interested to learn more about the Music Together program of The Great Leap Academy, I’d like to share our experience.

We went to their branch at Playschool International at the 2nd floor Kensington building. We were the first to arrive. In the class we attended, there were two other children with my daughter. According to their site, they usually keep the class small (6-12 children) so that they can give proper attention to each of them.

Each class is led by a fully trained, registered Music Together teacher. Ours was teacher Rylie and she was really nice and really very good. She really got the attention of the children even if the children were of different ages. The class started with her leading all of us in singing a welcome song. In the picture above, teacher Rylie was making firecracker sounds with hand movements.

We had a lot of dancing, where the parents and guardians where also encouraged to join. Zeeka and I loved the dancing part. We were used to dancing together. We would dance together at home in our sala, in our bedroom, in the kitchen — everywhere, so this was really fun for us! The children were also introduced to different kinds of musical instruments, instruments that I myself have not seen before. I hope Zeeka gets to learn how to play one. I don’t know how to play any, so I hope that she doesn’t take on after me. Haha!

I love that they class had a feeling of structured play (if that makes sense to you). I loved that it was fun and it really seemed like playtime for my daughter, but I love that all of these had a purpose of teaching the children to appreciate music. In their site, it says, “The relaxed, playful, non-performance-oriented classroom setting respects and supports the unique learning styles, developmental levels, and temperaments of all participants, creating a strong sense of community,” and I love that!

I also received two new CDs—one for home and one for on-the-go. It came with an illustrated songbook that’s filled with music-making ideas for spontaneous music play beyond the weekly classes.

I really enjoyed the class that we attended and we are really looking forward to attending more classes with The Great Leap Academy. I know that they have other classes available too like Might Math, Mighty Science and their Helene O’ Grady drama classes. You can join a free demo class  by going to this link: FREE DEMO CLASS

vOffice New Affordable Meeting Room Plans

Good afternoon, my dear readers! I’ve been so busy last week, not with work though but with Halloween parties. My daughter had three parties that she went to so we had to create three different outfits for her (but this is another story). So this week, I am bombarded with a lot of this that I need to do and accomplish. I would think that since it’s towards the end of the year, work would pretty much decrease for us, but it’s so weird that the amount of work and meetings are still at the same number. Apparently, people still hold meetings during the months of November and December. In the other start-up company that I am a part of, we have an investors presentation tomorrow (so that our investors are on board with all the things that are happening). Anyway this is just a short post as I have a lot of things to do this afternoon. I wanted to share with you this great news from vOffice, because I think this couldn’t wait. I know a lot of you still have meetings to hold (like us) for the months ahead.

As you all know, vOffice Philippines offers virtual office plans that you can choose from. I wrote about it here:
