3 Questions that you can Ask during a Networking Event

I love meeting new people. I get to learn new things and get to build my business contacts. When I was a child, my parents would tell me that the secret to being successful is not what you know, but WHO you know. That may not be entirely true, but I do believe that we should constantly strive to grow our network.

I’m an extrovert, but I know a lot of people who would want to grow their network, but don’t know how and where to start. Let me tell you that you really need to go out and meet people. Lucky for you, Manila Workshops has two amazing and fun networking events that you can be a part of. Click on the images or link below to check out the details!

So, okay, you have decided to go. What now? How do you strike up a conversation with a person?

Here are 5 questions that I normally ask during a networking event?

What do you do? With this question, you will already be able to gauge what the person likes doing. Listen carefully and look for common interests. These things can help you continue the conversation.

How did you learn about this event? This is also a good conversation starter. If they learned it from Facebook or Instagram, you can then go on to talk about how people are so connected nowadays. If they learned it from friend, it may be a person that you know. So whatever the reason may be, find ways to continue the conversation.

Why did you come to this event? By knowing this, you may find ways to help the person achieve an objective right away or in the future. If he/she is looking for a business partner, you may be interested or may refer him to a friend that you know who would be into it. The same is true if the person is looking for a Client or a freelancer.

Hope these questions help. The only thing that you need to do though for these two events is to have a great time! Don’t worry to much on what you will say or how you will strike up a conversation. We will take care of all of these things! 🙂 Rest assured that you will build your network if you attend these events!

Hope to see you soon!

5 Ways to Teach Your Kids about Proper Nutrition

Sometimes, kids can be picky and moody especially when it comes to eating. Oftentimes, I get frustrated with my daughter when she doesn’t want to eat. I know a lot of moms feel the same way. I was brought up in a family that ate healthy, so when I was pregnant, I vowed to myself that I would teach my kid to eat healthy, too. I never imagined that it could be this hard! Haha!

As parents, we do know how important eating healthy food is in stabilizing children’s energy, sharpening their minds and managing their moods. Some TV commercials and peer pressure can make getting our kids to eat well seem unimaginable because of all those delicious and tempting treats. Don’t worry! There are steps parents can take into account to impart healthy eating habits without turning mealtimes into warzones!

For tips on proper nutrition, I have turned to the women whom I trust the most for advice. These are the ladies who form my own circle of trust. I trust these women because we have a common belief that we should always choose brands that we trust and those that keep our family healthy and safe.

Eat vegetables!

Eat vegetables!

Make nutritious snacks and safe water available always. Always keep a lot of whole grain snacks, fruits, vegetables and a bottle of Wilkins Distilled Drinking Water around, so whenever they are hungry or thirsty, your kids can just reach for it. Let your kids have easy access to these foods so they’d become used to reaching for healthy snacks instead of empty calorie snacks like cookies, chips and junk food. Also, I choose to have Wilkins Distilled Drinking Water around to prevent dehydration, especially for kids who love moving around. I trust this brand of water because it is safe and clean.  Getting sick, nowadays, is very costly so choosing to go with a brand that you know won’t harm your family is very important.

Have Regular Family meals!

Have Regular Family meals!

Always have regular family meals. For children, there is comfort in knowing that dinner is served at just about the same time every night. I have heard from mom friends that children who undergo the same ‘meal time’ routine are more relaxed while eating and they get to eat a whole lot more. We would try to have a little game where all of us scoop and chew at the same time! Another great time for a family meal is breakfast. I have observed and have read that kids who eat breakfast tend to perform better in school activities. My daughter seems more “in the mood” when she eats before going to school.

Cook more meals and encourage them to always eat at home. Eating home cooked meals is way healthier for the entire family as you know what goes into the food that you eat. Most restaurant meals (I’m not saying all) tend to have more sugar, salt and fat. I am so happy though that there are specialty food stores now that serve amazing salads and healthy stuff.

Always get your kids involved. We can’t deny the fact that kids enjoy helping adults in shopping for groceries, selecting what goes inside their lunchbox and preparing meals. It is also a chance for parents to teach them about the nutritional content of different kinds of foods and to teach them how to properly read food labels.

Always limit portion sizes. Never insist on letting your child finish the food that’s on their plate. Sometimes, we, as parents, think that we know the perfect amount of food that they need. If they say that they are full, try to ask them again if they are done eating. If they say that they’re done, remove the plate. We have trained our daughter to do this so we know when she’s full because she says I’m done. We also know when she’s hungry because she says so.  Also, do not use food as a bribe or reward. Let them eat the needed amount of food they need for each particular meal.

Children can be picky eaters at some point in their lives. Hence, it is a challenge for parents to look for creative and subtle ways on how to encourage their kids to eat healthy. Sometimes making mealtimes playful can mean healthier eating for your kids. Just be patient! Relax and be happy — this will help your kids grow healthier and happier!

If you have more tips on how to keep your sanity when it comes to making your children eat healthy, let alone eat (period), let me know! I’m sure the whole #WilkinsCircleofTrust community will want to know your tricks, too! Feel free to leave a comment below. Hugs to you all, patient mommas!

Living Truly, Madly, Deeply

If I were to create titles of articles, I would always place ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply’ after a verb. For example… Live Truly, Madly, Deeply or Love Truly, Madly, Deeply or Learn Truly, Madly, Deeply. You get the idea. I love those words because I believe that it encapsulates everything that a human being needs to be in this world.

Live Truly Madly Deeply

Truly.
Everyone needs to be honest about what they feel, think, act and do. For me internal suffering occurs when one goes against what they know is true. Well, obviously, you can lie about what you really feel and you can deny doing things that you have actually done, but of course, there will be repercussions. Even in business, the people who last, the people who make it are those who are genuine. You can hide but eventually, you’ll be figured out.

Madly.
The world’s crazy! Seriously. But let’s embrace CRAZY, because without it, we won’t have innovations. We won’t have driven people looking for positive change. We won’t have people longing to make a difference. In this world that we live in, those who are madly in love with an idea are the driven ones. These are the ones who can’t sleep and the ones who are crazily obsessed with making the world a better place. They won’t stop until they get things done.

Every morning, when I wake up, I think that if this is the last day I would spend in this world, would I be content with my life. Would I be able to say that I lived — and I mean, REALLY LIVED? We need to be madly in love with LIFE. We need to always be excited to face every day’s challenges.

Deeply.
We sometimes go through life like robots. We oftentimes forget to feel. We forget to breathe. We forget to appreciate the little things that make life worth living. It’s time that we live intentionally — live blissfully (like what my fellow blissmakers would say). Start breathing and start feeling everything. Love and give love.

Are you living truly, madly and deeply? It’s time we do.

Cycles and Cradles: 10 Years of Utmost Love and Care

When it comes to loving someone, we need to reach a compromise. That is one of the things that I have learned in my 5 years of marriage. Why do you need to compromise? It is because you are two different and unique individuals with different beliefs, different expectations and different perception on things. But there are things that you need to be clear about and should not be compromise. There is no compromise for giving the best for your baby.

Ever since our daughter was born, we have saw to it that she is given the healthiest and the safest of things. Two of the brands that we have trust and love are Cycles and Cradle. Today, I would like to thank this brand and congratulate them for 10 full years of love and care for us and for our babies.

Cradle

Cradle

I have used and am continuously using Cradle to wash all of my daughter’s plates and utensils. This love for the brand started when I used it to clean the containers, bottles and breastpump parts with this all natural cleanser. It is made from plant extracts therefore it is safe for your baby and toddler. I use it also to clean fruits and vegetables just to make sure that what my toddler eats is safe. I also love the Cradle Toy & Surface Cleaner, because honestly, I am addicted to the smell. I use it to clean our dining room table and to clean my daughter’s toys.

Cycles

Cycles

Cycles is a need. I cannot live without Cycles. I used to get rhinitis a lot and one of the causes (which I later on in life successfully traced!) is strong detergent. Coming from a laundry shop, I would sneeze and sneeze. I noticed that my daughter was sensitive to these kinds of things, too. We have always used Cycles to wash her clothes. Until now, we still use it. It is hypoallergenic and phosphate free. I highly recommend moms to use Cycles until their children are 3 or 4 years of age.

And the newest brand, Cycles Sensitive, is the best brand to use when your babies or toddlers have sensitive skin. I was introduced to the brand in one of the workshops of Manila Workshops and that time, I only bought the insect repellent stickers. I got curious and I found out that the brand has Insect Repellent cream, lotion, baby head-to-toe wash and diaper cream. All of this brand’s product are hypoallergenic, paraben-free and fragrance free.

This came in just in time since my daughter is just one who is very ‘kikay’. She loves copying me and follows everything that I do. Her recent discovery is lotion. I’m glad that Cycles Sensitive, I don’t have to worry about her having allergies!

Done!

Done!

I am a brand believer of Cycles, Cradle and Cycles Sensitive and as you can see, we cannot live without their products! I that these brands continue to promote giving utmost love and care for babies. No compromise!

Happy 10 years, Cycles and Cradle!
