Get an All New Pizza Experience With The Big Guys Pizza

There are so many things to love about pizza. From the crunchy crust to its flavorful toppings, every bite is sure to be a hit at every party.

While we all know that pizza originated in Italy, there are many variations of bread and toppings all around the globe.

Turkey has pide, which comes with minced lamb or beef topped with herbs and cheese. Lebanon has manakish, a thin, flatbread covered with spices like thyme, sumac, oregano and sesame seeds.

Mexico has tostada, which is a tortilla crisped in an oven topped with a variety of meats and vegetables. It can range from ground beef, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and even shrimp. Its flavors can also vary depending on the location.

On the other hand, China has cong you bing, which is a dough folded with scallions, chilies, eggs, and other flavors. It is then baked to its crispy, flaky goodness or fried in a hot pan or skillet.

But what makes an awesome pizza experience? Is it the crust, the sauce or the toppings you use? Or is it the technique you use in kneading the dough or the temperature when you bake it?

There are four key elements you need to focus on in making great pizza. That’s the dough, the sauce, the toppings, and of course, the diner.

Lessons (Pabaon Sa Buhay) Moms want to Pass on to Their Kids

My daughter has made me so proud yesterday. We went to a tech conference and she was so well behaved. People found her to be a very charming little girl. My friends were telling me that she might grow up to be a tech startup founder like daddy and mommy. I said, she can be whoever she wants to be. My only wish is she grows up to be an independent lady who stands up for the things that she believes in based on the values that she acquires. My fear as a mom is if we as parents did a good job in instilling these values. I always question myself if what we pass on to her she truly understands or if she remembers all of the “pabaon sa buhay” or provisions that we leave with her.

Zeeka with me at #TechtonicSummit2018

All these thoughts stemmed from what I’ve recently watched.

I’ve asked moms to share some of the provisions that they learned from their moms and what provisions they want to share or pass on to their kids. These are their replies:

@avihr0916 – Be independent, determined, focused and confident.

“I always teach my children especially my daughter to be independent, determined, focused and confident”, said @avihr0916. She says that it’s so hard to be a be amor, especially if you didn’t get to have proper guidance from your own parents. She goes on saying that it’s sad, that she never got the support that she wanted from her parents, so now, she’ll make sure this never happens with my kids. “I’ll make sure that I’ll be a supportive mom with whatever my kiddos’ dreams are. And hanging maipapabaon ko sa kanila (the only provisions that I can give them) until they grow up are pieces of advice from the “realities in life” that I got — the advantages and disadvantages, the pros and cons and the life lessons that I got from each challenge in life that I experienced. Dahil gusto kong maging strong din sila kagaya ko (I want them to be strong like me).

@wahmm_6385 – I want them to see the importance of food; Food is a vessel of Love.

For @wahmm_6385, her mom’s provision or Pabaon sa Buhay to her was the importance of food. “For us, food is a vessel of love. It’s not only for nourishment. Good food needs time and patience, just like raising a family. Even if it’s something simple, I always feel loved when I eat my mom’s food. That’s why I also learned to communicate my love for people through my food.
She also taught me the value of hard work, patience, and acceptance. These three things have helped me survive the toughest times of my life, like when I lost my baby and found out my son had autism. She taught me to make the best of any situation through accepting the things I cannot change and doing the best to change what I can. I can definitely say that I am the best mom today because I learned from the best.”

@theramblingflower – Be nice and kind as you can.

“My parents had lots of Pabaon sa Buhay that they passed on to me, but I have a favorite: Be nice and kind as you can.” When @theramblingflower was in gradeschool, her parents, especially her father always reminded her to be nice and to treat people with respect. “I was very masungit back then and they would always tell me how important it is to be kind. It took me a long time to realize its importance, but it shaped me to a better person.” Now I value kindness so much and I make sure to teach it to my child and only associate myself with people who have the same traits. This is a very simple “pabaon” and reminder in life, but it goes a long way.”

@annestoppableperky – Always buy an extra of everything that you have.

“My mother always reminded me to have an extra of whatever I have. Always buy a pair, so you have an extra and you don’t buy for what you just need. She says that this is an abundance magnet 😍”

@itsemsmojica – Never listen to what others say about you, because its only YOU who truly knows yourself

“I was never close to my mom so i consider my grandmother as my mom and her #pabaonsabuhay to me is never listen to what others say about you, because it’s only YOU who truly knows yourself. No matter what other people say about you, at the end of the day, you know who you are and let others see that in a positive way.

@faeflutterby – Life is a never ending learning process, so never stop learning.

There are things I learned from my mother that I was able to only get to understand further when I grew older. These where “Never to expect things so you don’t end up getting disappointed.” otherwise I’ll end up more disappointed and hurt than I will ever be, and “Life is a never ending learning process, so never stop learning,” which I feel is substantial in every aspect on life. Now, as a single mother of two, I try to incorporate these things that I learned and impart them to my kids, and these virtues she passed on to me definitely gave me strength to carry on this obligation. I never would have imagined I would have. Her #PabaonSaBuhay definitely became my weapon to overcome adversities in life. Okay, I’m teary-eyed. I’ll leave it here. Much love!

@caiganeda – Always put God first and always keep your promises.

When @caiganeda was a teenager, her mama had a lot of moral lessons. She mentioned that she would just roll her eyes before 🙂 She always though that her mother kinda exaggerated. “First is always put God first, not really to the extent that you need to go to church everyday. Always pray. Keep your faith with Him and I might say that until now God never fails to amuse me given all the blessings that I have. Next is close family ties, that blood is thicker than water.” She though that her mother played favourites before because the eldest always got their attention. Now she understands that each sibling has their own capabilities and strength, and that was the reason. She realised, now with three kids, that you need to have different approaches for each kid.

“Hindi pwede iisng approach lang sya. It doesn’t work that way pala. And yung pagiging magalang and kababaang loob is most important na parati nya din sinasabi. But until now we are using po at opo and nag mamano pa din kami sa mga matatanda. Hoping mamana ng mga anak ko yan lahat.”

Another thing is to always keep your promises. “Palagi manatili na taong may isang salita most specially sa mga bata para din matuto sila na magkeep ng promises if they make one. And be madiskarte and matipid kung kinakailangan, like now pasukan. I teach my daughter not to buy new things kasi magaganda pa gamit nya. Instead of printing names, we do letter cutting din na natutunan ko din sakanya. Madami pa pangaral sila mama. And hoping maipasa ko sya sa mga anak ko at magiging apo in the future.”

These are really great lessons from different moms and daughters who come from all walks of life. How about you? What’s your #PabaonsaBuhay that you want to pass on to your children or to future generations? Share it with us using #PabaonSaBuhay #Safeguard

Sincerely,

Mommy Ginger

PS. I promised a gift for one of the daughters or moms above. But since, I’m feeling generous, I’ll choose two respondents to receive these gifts to 🙂 I choose

@caiganeda

and

@wahmm_6385

I’ll message you both on instagram! 🙂

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort launches “Carnivale of Stars” this summer

This July, I planned a trip to go to Hong Kong with a colleague, Trish, to represent Taxumo (my tech startup). We got discounted tickets because they were celebrating women in tech. Not a lot of women are in this industry. We’re attending RISE, a tech conference. Everything was all set and we were ready-to-go, until someone and something came up. That someone was my daughter Zeeka, and that something was this new “Carnivale of Stars” at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL).

Part of the Carnivale of Stars are the all-new atmosphere stage show “Moana: A Homecoming Celebration,” the “We Love Mickey!” Projection Show, and a new African-style Karibuni Marketplace.

We didn’t think of turning this trip into a vacation (initially, my husband was supposed to stay in Manila), but honestly, we felt guilty. The reason why we, as parents, decided to spend the last part of the trip in HKDL was that we want Zeeka to know that family time is important, too. We’ve been focusing on building our startup, that we have been spending less time with her.

Since we’re talking about Moana, we thought of how her grandmother was so supportive of her desire to go on an adventure — which then led to personal growth and new experiences. As parents, “adventures” like these are necessary for our children to grow and learn. We’ve noticed that during our travels and family bonding activities, Zeeka picks up new things, learns to be more creative, becomes more open to new ideas and to new ways of thinking and we grow closer together as a family.

So, we are really looking forward to spending time in Hong Kong Disneyland Resort as a family this summer!

Zeeka’s so excited to go to the “Moana: A Homecoming Celebration” which is in a new exotic outdoor venue called Jungle Junction, in Adventureland. Moana will invite guests to join her adventure in a 20-minute live show rich with inspirational music, dance, puppetry and immersive storytelling. When I told her what she should expect, Zeeka bought a mini Moana-like locket in a store which she said she’ll bring on her adventure.

In Adventureland, you will also find the Karibuni Marketplace, which is next to Theater in the Wild. This area will take you through a lively African ambiance with interactive games such as the Wheel of Fortune, Blongo Balls and Plinko where you could win souvenirs!

In the evening, Minnie Mouse and her pals are inviting guests to a surprise party for Mickey Mouse as part of Disney’s all-new “We Love Mickey!” Projection Show. We all obviously love Mickey! My daughter had a blast and she still remembers the time she met Mickey in Japan. I’m sure she’ll go crazy when I tell her that we’re throwing a party for Mickey! This new celebration transforms the buildings of Main Street, U.S.A. into a canvas for vibrant, colorful visuals that pay tribute to Mickey’s major milestones. I can’t wait to see this!

These will run from June 21 to September 2! We’ll be there sometime July, so I came across this at the perfect time! Zeeka doesn’t start school until August so this is the perfect vacation for her.

Aside from the things I mentioned, she will definitely enjoy seeing her favorite Disney∙Pixar characters leading HKDL’s first-ever “Pixar Water Play Street Party!”  From June 21 onwards, we can all meet Mr. and Mrs. Incredible from The Incredibles, Woody, Buzz Lightyear and their pals from Toy Story, along with other Disney∙Pixar stars in this water-based celebration. My husband and I love The Incredibles (We already watched Incredibles 2! They remind us so much of ourselves! LOL!) so we will definitely have a picture taken with Mr. and Mrs. Incredible at the “The Incredibles Arrive!”

For the total Disney Experience and just for plain convenience, parents may want to stay at any of the 3 nearby uniquely themed hotels for a “play, shop, dine, and stay” total Disney holiday experience. All the 3 hotels adjusted to the theme! The “Adventures of Oceania” poolside party at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel will entice young guests to join poolside games! A Disney friend is ready to have fun with guests at an afternoon poolside party at the Rain Drop Pool at Disney Explorers Lodge.

Do you know that you can also have your room customized? How amazing is that? For HK$600 (from June 21 onwards), guests can have their hotel rooms decorated with the theme of The Incredibles. The room decoration package includes themed bed runners, slippers, door stickers, amenities kits, sweet delights plus two water bottles and a set of kid’s utensils!

Guests staying at the resort’s hotels will receive at least one Priority Admission Pass for selected attractions, as well as the season’s exclusive souvenirs, including an amenities box, Disney slippers and door stickers.

Committed to creating memorable stays for guests, HKDL is introducing an all-new Express Online Check-in service in late-April, allowing guests to complete online check-in within 7 days prior to their arrival day to simplify the check-in process on arrival. For those with weird flight schedules, guests can now spend a day at the theme park before checking into the hotel. They can make use of the Luggage Valet Service to have their bags transferred to their hotel for a fee and make the most of their time at the park! Great time-saver!

Guests can start planning their magical journey with the following attractive offers:

For details, please visit: https://www.hongkongdisneyland.com/offers-discounts/ and selected travel agencies. Terms and conditions apply.

Bring home Summer souvenirs!

There are over 100 exclusive, summer-themed memorabilia at the park that will be extended this summer to include new collections of Duffy and friends series with exotic fruit themes. I am excited to get The Incredibles souvenirs which will be available for the first time. I’m ready to get superhero shirts and apparel! To get ready for school or to add spice to your school supplies, grab Tsum Tsum school bags, utensils and more. Specially designed Moana outfits and necklaces which look just like Moana’s in the film will also be available for guests to dress up like their favorite heroine.

It doesn’t end there!

Seasonal entertainment like “Carnivale of Stars” will continue and change all throughout the year. The Disney Halloween Time will start in September. Jack Skellington of The Nightmare Before Christmas will set the mood for this Disney theme.

From November to January 1, 2019, Mickey and friends will share Christmas carols for a heart-warming celebration of “A Disney Christmas,” as Christmas tree lighting and romantic snowfalls create a memorably festive experience for guests.

The transformation of Hong Kong Disneyland’s castle is fully underway. The transformed castle will pay tribute to 13 Disney Princess stories (something all our little ladies will love!!!)  and take the park to new heights with all-new day and nighttime entertainment.

We’re super excited to go on this adventure! This is the first time that we’ll be visiting Hong Kong Disneyland as a family. We’ll share photos with you.

If you think I missed anything (anything that I should do during our visit to HKDL), please do let me know! 🙂 I will add it to my list.

Carsoncrest International School

There are two things that I consider before sending my child to a school. The first one is the method of teaching. It has to be aligned with my objective of teaching my child through play (since she’s still young) and teaching her using actual things  that she will experience in her daily life. The second one is if it takes into consideration the flexibility that a school should have, and adjust to what a child needs. Every child is different, so you can’t really treat all of them the same way.

Oh, I have one more thing that I consider and that’s proximity.

For those who are in Makati, I will highly recommend this school that we visited. It’s a preschool in Makati. It’s called Carsoncrest International School, a franchisee of Clarenter Education, U.S. and is authorized to offer the International Preschool Curriculum (IPC). At the moment, they are offering the following programs:

  • International Toddler (2 years old) Program
  • International Nursery (3 years old) Program
  • International Prekinder (4 years old) Program
  • International Kinder (5 years old) Program – Starts next year (2019) This is that start establishing the K-to-12 department

Check out our visit to Carsoncrest International School, a preschool in Makati!

What is IPC or the International Preschool Curriculum?

The International Preschool Curriculum embodies the best in academic research and practices. It is aligned to meet or exceed the standards of all major education systems making it the most internationally accepted early childhood education curriculum in the world. From Singapore Math to UK Literacy, the IPC has had to meet some of the most stringent standards to be truly international (for more information visit www.ipc.education).

What I like about the International Preschool Curriculum or IPC is that Carsoncrest International School’s students will be exposed to the following:

  • Language Arts
  • Motor Skills
  • Sciences
  • Creative Arts
  • Numeracy
  • Socio-Emotional

If you want to check out this school, there will be available summer classes at Carsoncrest International school in cooperation with Manila Workshops. This will be posted in the events page (announcement will be in a few days): http://manilaworkshops.com/events

How GCredit Works

I’d like to live a cashless life. Seriously, I mentioned to my husband last month that I will only use GCASH or PayPal for any transactions or my UnionBank EON (this is not a sponsored post, btw). But seriously! I hate bringing cash, and I think we will be able to live our lives without cash. I want to challenge myself and I think I will be able to survive a week without cash. I will start tomorrow and I hope you can follow my journey starting tomorrow! I will document it via my Facebook (http://fb.com/mommyginger) and Instagram stories (http://instagram.com/gingerarboleda)

Today though, I’ll be sharing with you this new feature of GCASH (again, this isn’t a sponsored post). Just found cool that they have this!

As you may know, GCASH is a produce under a company called Mynt. Aside from GCASH, Fuse lending (a micro-lending company) is under Mynt. So these two basically combined forces to launch GCredit. GCredit is a credit limit available on the GCASH app which may be used for your payments and purchases. Example, after scanning  the QR codes of your favorite merchant, the app will ask you if you will pay via your GCASH money or GCredit.

You will need to activate your GCredit first and this “activation” is available when you use your GCASH app frequently for purchasing, loading and paying bills.

Now, how do you compute for interest. It’s very straight forward: [amount borrowed x 5% interest rate x (# of days borrowed / 30 days)].

You’re credit limit can be increased based on frequency and amount of transactions that you make. Credit limit starts at Php 1000 and can increase to Php 30,000.

I also get some inquiries on how to transfer GCredit to GCash Wallet. For this, there is no way of doing so. GCredit acts like a credit card where you have a balance that you can consume as a loan. For GCash Wallet, it serves as ready cash that you can use.

Another question is how to use GCredit to Buy load. For this, it’s not really related to GCredit but there is an option to borrow load when your GCash Wallet is Zero.  Choose the load combo you need. The app will send you a text message for the borrowed amount. You will need to fund your GCash account with the borrowed money before the due date and GCash will automatically deduct this amount from your wallet.

Hope these other FAQs help!

Check out this feature and let me know your thoughts on this! 🙂

For more information, you can visit this: https://fuselending.com/gcredit/faq/
