Party and Games We Love (Boardgames, etc.)

Mommy Ginger would like to share with you party planning tips and beautiful pictures and suppliers of the parties of her friends and those that she interviewed! We are also a family that loves playing boardgames and online games! Come and join us!

Axie Infinity Journey & Team Arbo Axie Infinity Incubation Program

If you’ve heard of Axie Infinity, we are playing this for two things: one is because it’s a fun game and two, to check out the earnings potential of this game. As you know, this blog is about Mommyhood, Business and Finance (basically everything that I care about), and this is one of the things that we’ve been studying as a family for exactly 15 days now. We started our Axie Infinity journey last June 20, 2021 and in a span of 15 days, a lot has happened, including this launch of the Team Arbo Axie Infinity Incubation Program.

Our Experience

So I started my Crypto Journey just this year. I don’t think I’m late in the game, because just these past few months, the Crypt Market dropped to figures that they had a few years back. I saw this opportunity to enter into the market. At first, I would check the markets everyday (I still do but not as frequent anymore as I did before). I would check charts every single hour. But after a while, I realized that I should do what I do with my other investments, which was cost averaging. So with this, I started just cost averaging and sticking to the top currencies (Bitcoin, ETH, ADA and around 7 more coins). BTW, for those who want to start buying crypto, it’s never too late to start. You can use Binance and please use my referral link. For full disclosure, I get a little bit of credit when you SPOT Trade or buy currencies in the market.

To understand what SPOT trading is, this is the article that I wrote: https://mommyginger.com/how-to-buy-crypto-currencies-101-on-binance.html You’ll be needing this for Axie Infinity, btw.

Okay, back to my story. So I then got interested with online games where you earn Crypto Currencies. Saw Earth 2, and I think it works on the blockchain, but I’m not really sure. I bought some piece of land, and I also wrote about it in this blog. I also made an account on Cryptokitties, but didn’t really do anything there. Then I heard about Axie Infinity from the group of Ken-Ken Somera called Cryptamad. I checked it out and I was surprised that the initial investment was at Php 35-40 Thousand Pesos. I wasn’t ready to invest at that time, so I wanted to be a scholar instead (more on Axie Infinity Scholarships later). Just a few days after, we decided to invest just to try it out.

We started with a budget of Php 20 Thousand to buy 3 cute Axies. You need three to start playing. Being gamers, we looked at the cards and decided to buy a good enough team, and started playing.

Axie Infinity Incubation Program: Axie Infinity Scholarship program 1

How to Get Started

I won’t go through the step by step journey, BUT you can just watch this. EJ did a great job of explaining.

EJ and I also were interviewed by our friend, Fitz Villafuerte in this podcast:

So the investment that you need for Axie Infinity is around $1000 or Php 50,000 to start. This will allow you to buy 3 Axies (those cute little characters). It’s a bit steep, especially when you just want to play, and because of this, there are what are not called scholarships. Scholarships are basically investors/managers who buy teams and let other people play it.

To know what scholarships are, here is another video that I did with my friends Ken-Ken Somera and Louel Guiting.

Hope all of these Axie Infinity Resources help.

Our Current Funds

So as promised, I’m going to share with you what we have earned in 15 days. So our initial investment was at Php 20,000. You can’t a good team anymore with this price so the average now for an okay team will be around Php 45,000 to Php 55,000.

The good news though is that the price of SLP (coins that your earn from this game) is increasing. It was at Php 6 when we bought in. Now, it’s at Php 8.00 (I just placed Php 7.50 on my sheet since I want to be more conservative).

So as you can see, in 15 days, we almost recuperated back our investments.

What will we do with the money after?

We plan to earn enough to buy a new team and cascade it through the Team Arbo Axie Infinity Incubation Program.

What is the Team Arbo Axie Infinity Incubation Program?

Yesterday, we announced our own version of the Axie Infinity Scholarship program called the Team Arbo Axie Infinity Incubation Program. It’s quite different from other programs since we are looking for future potential managers.

Full details on this video of EJ.

We also have this deck for you to go through and see if the Team Arbo Axie Infinity Incubation Program is for you.

Axie Infinity Incubation Program Presentation

We will be deliberating on who to choose for this batch and for the succeeding batches. For full disclosure, this Incubation Program is in collaboration with our friend Fitz Villafuerte and another friend, Bored Ape (not his real name since we can’t disclose).

We really hope to bring more jobs to people so stay tuned for more announcements. We usually stream on https://facebook.gg/TeamArbo so please follow EJ and I there.

For those who want to invest and generate jobs for others, and not really play the game, feel free to contact us. You can just PM us through the Team Arbo Page or the Mommy Ginger Page on Facebook.

Enjoy Axie Infinity!

Earth 2: Own a Piece of Land in Virtual Earth

As I look outside my window, I see Manila Golf Club. It would be amazing to own a piece of land here in BGC. The cost of land is too high. If I were to buy land later on, it would probably be far from Metro Manila. But there is a world where I own part of the golf course that I see outside my window. It’s a world not known to many yet called Earth 2.

It’s a game where all of us can actually by pieces of land. The land that we live in was divided into 10mx10m spaces that you can purchase. The prices are driven by all the players in Earth 2. You can purchase unpurchased land, bid on purchased lands and sell your own land.

Each of my properties in Earth 2 has property deed details view confirming Land Class, Land Title, Deed Identifier, Controlled Status, Purchase Price, Market Value, Sale Status, list of exact unique Tile IDs including longitude and latitude plus addresses for each tile within related property.

The creator of the game is Shane Isaac. He introduced himself to the public last January 2021.

I’m not sure if a lot of people from the Philippines are playing this game, but I see a lot of Philippine flags already that claimed areas in the map. You’ll see leaderboards that will show you the net worth of the players. There is also an inter-user trading price (Market Value) per country determined real time.

You can add credit balances to your Earth 2 wallet and you can use those credits to purchase land in the game. If you want to purchase lands that other players own, you can go to Marketplace. MarketPlace list of all properties for sale by other users listing key data, number of tiles, land class, country, Market Value, Advertised Price, % vs Market Value displayed in Best Value order.

If you want to start playing this game, you can use my Earth 2 Code: UET99P2I3F to get a 5% discount on the piece of land that you’ll purchase.

What to remember:

This is a game and it’s not a trading platform. Please do not invest or play with money that you cannot afford to lose in the end. Since this is a new game, we really don’t know how long this game will last.

Why I played:

It’s interesting to see where the creators will bring this. I’m a fan of Ready Player One, and game playing with Virtual Reality or the idea of a virtual world interests me.

Plus, It’s just nice to know that I own a piece of that golf course when I look outside my window! 🙂

To play, just go to: https://earth2.io/ Again, to buy land, use my code UET99P2I3F to get a 5% discount on the piece of land that you’ll purchase.

4 Boardgames for Kids that You’ll Love!

We are a family that loves playing boardgames. And these boardgames that we play are not your traditional Monopoly, Snakes and Ladder or Pictionary. We (and when I say “we” in this case, I’m really pertaining to my husband… haha!) have close to 50 table top games.

We have Deck-Building games, Cooperative Games, more confrontational games, etc. For this summer, I thought about creating a list of boardgames for kids that we love! These are games that you can purchase and play with your kids, because the rules are simpler and game time is not that long.

We love them all so here is our list in no particular order!

AZUL

In the Philippines, we love playing BINGO! The objective of the game is almost similar to playing BINGO! Basically, the objective of Azul is to gather the most number of points by filling up their “colorful” tiled wall. The colors have to be laid out in a manner where a players can score the most points. There are specific patterns that score more points. Completing a colored set will also earn extra points.

Azul is an abstract board game. Abstract in the gaming world means that moves made are based on pure strategy. This game was designed by Michael Kiesling (Wikipedia). This boardgame was released by Plan B Games in 2017.

This game’s theme is inspired by the Moors (Moroccan), a Muslim population that resided in Spain and Portugal in the Middle Ages. They had azulejos (originally white and blue ceramic tiles). Azulejos are painted tiles that form beautiful artwork and are normally found inside and outside places of worship, palaces, schools, houses, etc.

What we like about the game:

The game is very aesthetically appealing. Kids will love how beautiful the game is. This game is best played by 7+ year olds. Here is how you play it!

BARENPARK

Zeeka loves this game, because there are a lot of cute little animal drawings. The objective of the game is to create 4 completed and fully filled out blocks of land and to earn the most number of points. You “complete” it by building a park and putting tiles of lands with bears on it. Some tiles have corresponding points. Completing objectives also such us being the first to have 3 tiles with the same types of bears will give you extra points.

I love that the game is based purely on strategy, too. All tiles are visible, so getting points are all based on the decisions that you make.

What we like about the game:

It’s very simple to play. It even tests and helps builds the spatial intelligence of kids. It’s also a nice game to play with adults if you want to introduce them to the world of tabletop games! 🙂 This is how you play it.

DICE FORGE

Dice Forge is designed by Régis Bonnessée and is published by Libellud / Asmodee. Asmodee is one of my favorite game publishers. They are the publishers of our first game that got us addicted to boardgames — Splendor! They also released Catan, Carcassonne, Splendor, Pandemic, Ticket to Ride, etc.

For Dice Forge, the objective is to get the most points. What makes this game standout is that you can change the faces of the dice that you have. To get point, you either get to roll a die with a face that gives you points, or get cards that that are equivalent to points but you have use up the other resources that you have.

What we like about the game:

Changing the die faces is appealing to kids. They get to choose the face that they want to place and then change it themselves. To play this game on your own, you need to be at least (I would say) 9-10 years old. The younger ones (5 to 8 year olds) can help an adult play by throwing the dice, moving the pieces and changing the faces of the die.

This is how you play Dice Forge:

MEEPLE CIRCUS

The objective of the game is to get the most points. In this game, we are circus performers going through rounds of practice. We will then present what we practiced on the third round.

We base our circus acts on the cards that we drafted. Players will then score points for completing acts. There are three types of acrobat performers that score points in specific ways. In the second round, each player will also draft a Star Performer, a unique meeple.

BTW, meeples, are those small pieces in boardgames that represent “people”. It is now more broadly used to refer to nearly any pawn or figure in a game. It is believed that the term was first used by Alison Hansel as an ad-hoc abbreviation for “my people”, as noted in this 2001 session report and described in detail in this history. (https://boardgamegeek.com/wiki/page/Glossary#toc130)

The third and final round is where player draft their final performances.

What we like about this game:

We love the game pieces of Meeple Circus. The little horses, elephants, etc. are so cute! Kids will love them! The mechanics is also very simple. Kids can also practice their tactile and motor skills when they try to follow their drafted cards using the little pieces.

This is how to play Meeple Circus:

These are the four boardgames that you and your kids can play this summer.

Clara Ole Potluck FoodFest: A Double Baby Shower Celebration

Two months ago, I discovered products and cooking ingredients that encouraged me to cook. Read all about it here: Check out on What Encouraged me to Cook! I have enjoyed cooking for my family and recently, I had a great time and enjoyed cooking for one of my best friends who is pregnant with her second baby. I got to throw a double baby shower celebration for her and her sister, since both of them were pregnant! It was a cool double baby shower celebration. This party was part of the Clara Ole Potluck Foodfest. The Clara Ole Potluck Foodfest is a series of eight themed potluck mini parties at condo residences. In the party, we got to share our own own signature dishes using Clara Ole products.

Clara Ole Potluck Foodfest 1

It took us weeks to prepare for this baby shower. I am really thankful that the Clara Ole team helped a lot in preparing for the event. The theme that we had for that double baby shower celebration was inspired by the book Dr. Seuss’ Oh the Places you’ll go. This is why we had little hot air balloons dangling from the ceiling. My friend Sharon is having a baby girl and her sister Michelle is having a baby boy. This is why we had to incorporate both the colors blue and pink.

Chicken Lollipop with Clara Ole Dips n' dressings

Chicken Lollipop with Clara Ole Dips n’ dressings

When almost everyone was there, I welcomed the guests to an afternoon of good food, fun and surprises! Of course, we started by introducing the dishes that we prepared. The first dish was prepared by Michelle. She prepared Chicken Lollipops with assorted Clara ole dips. It’s a very straight-forward dish but kids love this! All you need to do is to fry the chicken. It’s so easy to preprare.

Liempo marinated using Clara Ole Hickory

The second dish was from Sharon. She prepared Grilled pork belly. A lot of people love liempo. They will love it even more when they did what Sharon did which was to use the Clara Ole Barbecue Marinade Hickory.

Clara Ole Dishes

Pasta using Cheesy Pesto Pasta Sauce topped with Sardines and Parmesan

The third dish was prepared by yours truly. For those who don’t know, I love Spanish sardines so what I did was I made pasta using the Clara Ole Cheesy Pesto Pasta Sauce. I cooked spaghetti then mixed the sauce and then topped it with parmesan cheese and Spanish sardines.

Ensaimada topped with Clara Ole Guava Jelly

Ensaimada topped with Clara Ole Guava Jelly

The last dish which was truly a hit was the Ensaimada topped with Clara ole guava jelly, which my friend Chef Raquel made. This was a great idea! This is something that you can actually pull off and prepare for your own celebration and party!

Ginger shows us how you can give your ordinary favorites a quick and special twist with the help of Clara Olé! We hope this delectable suggestion will help you create the perfect merienda treat on your next gathering, Ms. Bebi Lorenzo! Kindly send us a private message to claim your prize! 🙂

Clara Ole Drinks

We also had a unique drink! We had Dalandan Soda mixed with Clara Ole Truly Fruity Blueberry. It was delicious!

After eating, we played games and here are some games that you can do for a baby shower:

1) Make a Baby using modelling clay – The adults and kids had fun making cute babies using clay. During the party, we had a lot of creative babies that Amy Perez-Castillo, Clara Ole Brand Endorser had a hard time choosing the winner!

First Birthday List of Party Suppliers: Activities and Entertainment (Part 4)

I’m so excited to share with you the list of party suppliers that I had for the activities during Zeeka’s Little Miss Sunshine Birthday party. I will also be sharing my host and entertainer for the day.

The HOST AND ENTERTAINER – Jiggles the Baloon Lady

Mommy Ginger and Zeeka with Jiggles, the Baloon Lady

Mommy Ginger and Zeeka with Jiggles, the Baloon Lady

The Arboledas have always gotten Jiggles to be the entertainer and host for all of our children’s parties, from Kuya David’s first birthday party to Noah’s and now to Zeeka’s first birthday party. We have always trusted her, since we know that she can entertain both the children and the adults. She is also really very talented. I have been to a lot of children’s parties and no one can really beat her when it comes to creating balloon masterpieces.

What I like about her, is that she is also a good host. I wanted a host that wasn’t too “noisy” (if you know what I mean) since I had a lot of adult guests. But of course I also wanted someone who could get the children’s attention. Jiggles was just perfect!

If you want to get her, I advise you to contact her already as her schedule is quite full and reservation fees come in quickly! You can visit her page: https://www.facebook.com/JigglesTheBalloonLady to contact her. She will also bring her own sound system for an additional fee (so you don’t have to think about that).

BOW MAKING ACTIVITY – Dainty Ashley

Mai is the best. I met her online, way back when Zeeka was still a baby. She wanted to create a ZEEKA Bow. Her creation was simply adorable!

COLORING TUMBLER AND PAINTING – Party Crafts by Ava

I love Jen! She’s so easy to talk to. I again, like Mai, met her online. I was looking for Mompreneurs that I could feature for the Momprenuer section of my blog and I found her business quite unique and very cute! I loved that fact that children get to create different art pieces during parties.

Again, during the months when I was still preparing, I talked to Jen and she agreed to be one of my party suppliers for Zeeka’s first birthday. We agreed on having a coloring tumbler and painting activity.

Here are the pictures that I got from Party Crafts by Ava’s Facebook Page:
