My daughter and I joined this super fun call with Netflix where they shared two new Netflix kid-friendly features. In our household, it has been a habit to watch a new kid-friendly show every weekend.
We love watching with Zeeka because it’s a great way to bond with her and get to know her thoughts about different things.
Shows and movies are an important way for kids to connect with the world – helping to teach them about new places, create bonds with family or friends and understand other perspectives.
We learned about the two Netflix kid-friendly features and I’d like to share these with you, too. This will help families like you navigate around Netflix and discover new shows that you can watch with your family – whether it’s a fantasy film like Wish Dragon or an action-adventure series like Ridley Jones.
Bi-Weekly Kids Recap Emails
First, there will be bi-weekly kids recap emails to give parents a better understanding of your child’s preferences and news ways to engage those interests, like:
Recommendations based on your child’s favorite shows and movies;
Printable coloring sheets and activities inspired by your kid’s favorite characters;
Top themes or topics charts that show the types of programs your child enjoys most (i.e. science, friendship); and
Tips for how to use our Kids features on Netflix.
Now, Zeeka is always following up with me if I have already gotten an email from Netflix… LOL!
Kids Top 10
Second, Netflix launched Kids Top 10 rows featuring our most popular children’s content in your country.
Netflix has seen how Top 10 rows help members / subscribers find something to watch. And of course, helping families make the best decisions has always been important to them so now, they are offering a wide variety of safe (and fun!) tools for younger viewers like kids profiles, custom ratings and profile locks.
The Top 10 rows feature gives kids recommendations on what to watch next.
Super amazing, right? Connecting kids with their families, friends and stories around the world has never been easier. Check out these two new Netflix kid-friendly features.
When I was young, my concept of playing was running around in our garden, playing hopscotch or shooting hoops with my sister in the garage of my grandmother’s house. It’s so interesting to compare what we do now with our daughter Zeeka with my childhood experience. So much has changed over the years. Much has changed also from what we were playing before COVID 19 happened with what we are playing now.
Prior to the pandemic, we would play board games with her. My husband and I would also have weekly boardgame nights with friends. My husband has this massive collection of tabletop board games probably totalling to close to 100 board games.
When the pandemic hit, we still continued playing (just the 3 of us — my husband, daughter and myself), but most of our time is now spent on playing online games. We each have our favorites. My husband loves role playing games, farming & life simulators, horror games, etc.. I love horror games and life simulators, too. My daughter who is in lower school loves farming & life simulators, casual games and games like Roblox and Minecraft.
Why do we love gaming and why do we encourage our daughter to play?
We believe and have noticed that she learns a lot of things from playing online, too. And we noticed that she learns how to formulate sentences while interacting with other players. She learns new words. Self-awareness is also something taught by strategic games, as well as empathy. Some games also teach her how to be more creative.
Speaking of games for kids…
We saw this site where you can find games that your kids can play, and currently, they have over 100 games. It’s https://plays.org/ My daughter super loves this site! If this is your first time navigating through the site, scroll to the footer so that you can see the different games that fall into different categories.
Batman will race through the city on his BatMobile collecting blocks and studs while avoiding enemies. So all your child needs to do is use the arrow keys and control the BatMobile. The more blocks and studs that you collect, the higher the score.
It is a fun game that your child can play to teach them how to control the keys and to teach them direction.
Teach your kids to solve simple mathematical equations and problems. When they do, they can kill enemies, beasts and monsters in this game. Basically, Guardians Defenders of Mathematica is a role-playing game where you choose to be one of these characters: Knights, Warriors, Elves, Rangers, Witches or Wizards. Every round, you are given some math problems to solve and when you successfully solve it, you get to attack your enemy. If you don’t, the enemy attacks you. After each round, you gain XP and go to the next round.
So for this game, you are building defenses against enemies who are attacking your land. By gaining more and more points, you will be able to get stronger weapons that you can build. Points are earned by killing enemies, so you need to be strategic in building your weapons and choosing which weapons to build at the right time.
She chose Adventure Time characters to be her players. So your child can choose their players while checking out their speed, Shot Power and Tackle Accuracy. There are also more characters that you can unlock later on the game if you have enough coins.
It’s a fun game that your kids can play and my daughter learned more about different countries and flags.
From her experience, I saw that she really learned a few things for each of the games that she played. Since they have more than a hundred games here, I can’t wait to see what other stuff she’ll be able to learn.
Their newest games are added in this link. They usually have new games, so my daughter actually bookmarked this site!
We don’t stop Zeeka from playing since we, as a family, believe in work or study / life balance. We also know and sees that she gets to learn a lot while having fun and playing games.
How about you? How do you make learning fun for your kids? Are you family who loves gaming and playing?
With the variety of shows and movies available today from multiple streaming platforms, you can never run out of things to binge-watch. Thus, if you manage to clear a weekend to catch up on your list of must-watch content, you want to make sure that you can make the most of it—perhaps even consider snagging a new television from some of the best TV deals in your area.
Preparing for a binge-watching session may feel strange, but think of it like planning for a trip. You do your research beforehand, arrange your transportation and the items you need, and schedule the places you wish to visit. This attention to detail applies to binge-watching too, except that the journey to a different world happens right in your own living room.
To help you get started, here are some of the things you can do.
Prepare a List of Shows and Movies You Want to See
Making a list of the shows and movies you want to watch is one of the first things you need to do when preparing for a binge-watching session. Remember, you are working with limited time, so the last thing you want is to waste it looking for something to watch.
Ideally, you already have a list of shows and movies your friends have been recommending for a while. If you don’t, however, you can always ask other people for recommendations. A simple Facebook post or tweet from you asking for suggestions can also help you easily generate a list of shows to watch, as recommended by your peers or followers. With your list sorted out, you can take the next steps to planning your TV-viewing spree.
Set Aside Time for Binge-Watching
One of the problems that a lot of binge-watchers struggle with is the idea that they are wasting time by watching a lot of TV. You might feel bad for not accomplishing any work-related tasks and being “unproductive.” It is important to understand, however, that binge-watching is one of the many ways to relax and unwind from busy schedules.
Setting aside time and specifying just how long you will binge-watch can help address these apprehensive feelings and make you feel more comfortable about seeing this as a crucial time-off and “me time” for yourself.
Make Your Spot Comfortable
Most people have a designated TV-watching spot. It can be a large sofa, a snug chair, or a soft bed. No matter what you choose as your watching spot, it is essential to also prepare it to make it as comfortable as possible for you when you start your binge-watching session. Make sure that there is adequate back support and you have enough leg space for movement.
Stock Up on Snacks
Preparing the snacks may seem like the easiest part of working out your binge-watching session, but don’t be fooled. For your health’s sake, it’s not wise to mainly consume chips, biscuits, and other junk (albeit delicious) snacks—especially when you plan to sit down a lot in front of the TV.
Opt for healthier snacks instead, such as frozen grapes, whole-wheat bars, and sliced fruits. Prep them beforehand and place them in the refrigerator, so you can easily pop a container out whenever you’re hungry.
Drinks Lots of Water
When you’re engrossed in a film or series, it’s easy to forget to drink water. However, staying hydrated is crucial to your health, even when you’re just lounging in front of the television. After all, the body continues to use water even when you’re not moving, and proper hydration can help maintain optimal thermal comfort when you’re watching TV.
Consider placing a pitcher of water near you so you can refill your glass as needed. You’ll be able to avoid getting up from your comfortable spot each time you feel thirsty.
Schedule Alarms for Stretch Breaks
An increasing amount of research shows that being sedentary is not good for your health. It’s connected to the development of several health problems, including diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers. It’s not good for your mental health as well. Yet again, it’s easy to forget to stand up and stretch once in a while when you’re engrossed with what’s happening on the screen.
Avoid sitting for too long by setting up alarms every 30 minutes for a quick stretch. You can set the mode to “vibrate” so a ring won’t disrupt the show you’re watching. Keep your phone close to you so you’ll be able to feel the vibration as scheduled.
Consider Multitasking While Watching
You don’t necessarily need to stay in a lounge position to binge-watch. Multitasking is always an option. You can do a couple of stationary chores, such as folding laundry, ironing clothes, or organizing your closet. If you have a clear space, you can even do exercises, such as squats, planks, jumping jacks, and sit-ups. In this manner, you kill two birds with one stone. You’re watching the content you love and you’re accomplishing other things you want to do.
Inform Your Friends and Family Beforehand
The last thing you want in a carefully planned binge-watching session is an interruption. A friend might drop by without informing you first, or a family member might make you run for an errand, thinking you have free time. Avoid these scenarios by informing friends and family that you have something scheduled during this period and cannot entertain visits, calls, and errands, among other things.
It becomes increasingly clear that there’s more to preparing for a binge-watching session than most people think. The tips above will help you make the most of your time and allow you to catch up with the shows and movies you’ve been putting off to watch. With careful preparation, your binge-watching session can become a more comfortable and fulfilling experience, whether you do it alone or with others.
Beko, Europe’s no. 1 home appliances brand, remains committed to sustainability and saving the planet as part of its mission to empower next generations to live healthier lives.
Beko continues to do its part in protecting planet earth by designing and manufacturing innovative sustainable appliances and will soon launch eco-friendly appliances supported by three key pillars, including use of recycled materials, use of bio-composites and products that use fewer chemicals.
The big picture is that Beko’s corporate culture goes beyond just making and selling appliances.
“We are passionate about making sustainability affordable and accessible. This way the environmental benefits of our products are spread across the globe and are not just merely a luxury. With this in mind, developing new technologies enabling lower cost of sustainability is our number one priority,” said Gürhan Günal, Country Manager of Beko Pilipinas Corporation.
Arçelik, Beko’s parent company, has robust systems in place for increasing the reparability and recyclability of its products, and for sustainable productivity practices such as energy efficiency and reducing supply chain environmental impact.
Arçelik has accomplished important milestones around its sustainability efforts.
It has been ranked 34 on Corporate Knights’ 2021 Global 100 Index, the annual ranking of the world’s 100 most sustainable corporations which looks at the performance of companies with more than $1 billion in revenues. This ranking makes Arçelik the most sustainable home appliance and houseware company in the world.
In 2019 and 2020, Arçelik became a carbon-neutral company across its global production operations via carbon credits earned through the Carbon Financing Project. Last year, it was named industry leader in the Household Durables category in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Arçelik has been included in the category for the fourth year in a row.
Arçelik is recognized as a “Top Impact Company” by Real Leaders for efficient use of resources and circular economy solutions to develop smart technologies, promote healthier lifestyles and empower local communities.
This year, Arçelik has been awarded as Gold Class and Industry Mover by S&P Global.
Furthermore, Arcelik’s 2030 greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets are approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative in line with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting temperature increase to well below 2°C. By 2030, 100% of the electricity used in production plants around the world will come from renewable sources, waste recycling will have increased to 99% in global operations, recycled plastic content will have increased to 40% and energy and water consumption per product will have decreased by 45%. “With this in mind, developing new technologies enabling lower cost of sustainability is our number one priority. Beko’s goal is to eventually incorporate these sustainability measures into all our products. Beko’s brand purpose is empowering future generations to live healthier lives – which
is only possible by living more sustainably and working towards a healthier planet. All of our actions and every product we use has an impact on nature. So beyond this seven-product portfolio, we are eager to adapt our existing technologies to make all our appliances more environmentally friendly, too,” said Gürhan Günal, Country Manager of Beko Philippines Corp.
With its parent company Arçelik, Beko will continue to increase investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy systems and be consistent in minimizing operational and supply chain environmental impact.
“Beko is committed to protecting our Mother Earth by designing and manufacturing energy-efficient products and investing in resource efficiency in production. Beko encourages its competitors to follow suit,” said Günal.
As you all know, for the past month, I’ve been investing in Crypto currencies. I haven’t earned yet, to be honest (haha! I bought half of my coins when the market was high). But the past month, I’ve been learning a lot. Plus, this is such an exciting space. Anyway, I digress. What I wanted to share was that I started Stock Trading in the US Markets, too! We’ve been investing in local stocks for years now. Having listened to financial US vloggers made me curious about trading in DOW, S&P and NASDAQ. Yup, I’m easy to influence! With this, I checked out Gotrade.
I actually signed up for eToro and Gotrade, and decided to go with Gotrade first. The reason was because there were certain stocks like Tesla stocks that I wanted to purchase, but eToro had minimum lot sizes (you needed to invest $1000 to buy into Tesla). Since I just wanted to try trading in the US market first and not jump into it, I went ahead and used Gotrade. Gotrade allows you to invest with smaller amounts.
Signing up and Depositing into a Gotrade Account
When you sign up to Gotrade, you need to have a invitation code. I used my friend, Marvin’s code. For those reading this, you can use this code below.
Gotrade will give you free $5 if you go through the process — signing up, getting verified, depositing $10, and trading your first stock.
For depositing into Gotrade, you can choose instant deposit to Gotrade and transfer up to $1000 or you can use deposit to Gotrade for bigger amounts. For the former, you can use a Unionbank account (instantly deposited with a fee of Php 10) or a BPI account (instantly deposited with a fee of Php 12). For the former, you can use a Unionbank account (3 days to be deposited with a fee of Php 10) or a BPI account (3 days to be deposited with a fee of Php 12). The minimum amount that you can deposit for both options is around $1, so the equivalent of whatever the given exchange will be.
You can also deposit in USD via Swift transfers.
Trading in Gotrade
Just go to a particular stock that you want to purchase and click on trade. When the markets are closed in the US, you can’t trade. I don’t know if it’s just my account (since I only deposited $10 to try it out), but there is no day trading or setting limit orders in Gotrade. You buy the stocks at market rate, which may be to a disadvantage for more savvy investors. It’s simple enough though for those who are starting.
How Gotrade makes money
So to know how this platform earns, they’re very transparent. They actually enumerated these things in the app. I’ll share it with you here, too, just so you know.
These are their sources of revenue:
A small fee collected on the foreign exchange from your deposits
Interest income generated from cash
A premium paid subscription program (coming soon!)
Interchange fees on your debit card spends (coming soon!)
My purchases so far and my experience…
I appreciate the fact that the app is very simple to use. All of the features are presented in a way that’s very straightforward. I love the way the sign up process (onboarding process). I just started yesterday and deposited $10, so I will still explore the app further and let you know my thoughts on this.
I bought partial shares of AMC, Amazon and Tesla. Why? Just copied the vloggers that I watch really (so copy me at your own risk, too! haha!). For each stock though, I appreciate the fact that they have a very comprehensive page that shows the market stats for the stock, news about them, and the story behind the company. This is so that users can read up on the company who’s issuing the stock.
So for one day of trading, I grew the $15 ($10 from me and the $5 FREE from Gotrade) to $25.15. This is really because I got into AMC when it was $33+, and with one day of trading, it’s now at $62.55. So this is really not how quickly you earn (for full disclosure). There has been a lot of hype on AMC lately so treat this as an irregularity.
Going back to Gotrade, when you share your first few trades, you earn a dollar for each share. I think I earned a dollar back for the first 3 shares.
Withdrawals from Gotrade
You can enroll your bank account and they will deposit your money via SWIFT. Again, for full disclosure, I haven’t tried to withdraw yet. I’m holding on to the stocks, but once I get to a comfortable position, I will withdraw just to try it out and write about it.
So there you have it, peeps! I hope this article helps. I’ve been doing a lot of financial content on Tiktok, too, so please head on over to: gingerarboledatv on Tiktok (content in both Filipino/English).
Let me know if you have questions or tips for me regarding Gotrade in the comment section. I’d be happy to share it.
Again if you want to join GoTrade, here is my invitation code:
