Murder Manila — Parties to Die For

Board game days (and nights!) in our home have become more frequent. If people are curious to know what we do on Friday evenings to Sunday, we play board games with family and friends. We currently own a collection of 30+ boardgames at home. We are currently looking for other geeks like us who want to play with us so please do leave a comment below so that we can connect! haha! But this post is not about a search for gaming friends or people to join our gaming group. It’s about a search for a murderer during an event of Murder Manila!

I have never played anything like this before! My journey to solving the mystery started when I became friends with the power couples (yes, two couples) behind Mystery Manila. Chuck and Marge and Errol and Kimbie invited me and my husband to join the media launch for this new game that they created — Murder Manila.

For Murder Manila, their team brings the mystery to you. Each of the players take on a character so the game has a role-playing component. You and your guests will play different roles — the victim, suspects and murderer. During the evening when we played the game, everyone was in character, so playing the game was so much fun!

Weeks before, I received a packet that contained information about my character. I was given the name Sydney Smarts, the class salutatorian. With the information given, we had to dress the part and act the part. So how does the actual game go?

You have to socialize with everyone and try to gather clues from everyone. Each one will have a secret that they want to hide. Next, clues will be presented sometime during the game. After which, you need to decide on who committed the crime.

During that night, awards were given to the best actress, best dressed, richest and the fastest solver.

My friend and blogger, Fitz Villafuerte won the Richest Player. The fastest solver was, of course (I had no doubts that he would win), my husband. He really is very good at playing these types of games!
