Entrepreneurship 101 for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Aspire

Aspire… it’s such a nice word. It’s so nice and light and positive. But, personally, I have something against that word (haha!). I just feel that it has to be followed by a word or words to make it complete. Aspire to be great… Aspiring entrepreneurs. I feel if we just aspire and do nothing about it, aspiring or the word aspire will lose it’s meaning.

There are different kinds of people. There are those who aspire for great things but don’t do anything about it. There are those who aspire for great things and act on their dream. There are those who act on aspirations, but give up even before reaching it. And there are those who don’t desire for anything; their motto would be go with the flow.

It think it’s safe though to assume that most of us aspire for things. We may not be aspire to be rich and famous, but we aspire for things that will give our loved ones and ourselves comfortable lives. But we seriously need to act on these things. We lose our life’s purpose when we dream and dream and yet do nothing about it. The same can be said about entrepreneurship. A lot of us aspire to have our own businesses, but we don’t act on it. Sometimes, even if we take the first step, we don’t get to maintain, sustain and keep the business that we started.

Another problem that aspiring entrepreneurs have is that they don’t know what kind of business they should start or join (hey, anyone can be an investor). I know a lot of friends who are in this dilemma. Then, another concern is I don’t know how to create that plan that will lead me to entrepreneurship greatness. When am I worthy enough (if there is such a level) that I could charge for products and services?

Fear not! I have really developed the Entrepreneurship 101 Webinar to help you answer a few if not all of these questions.

First Episode of GTV! Let’s all Love the Leap!

I have launched my own YouTube channel last April 8! Yehey! I, of course, forgot to tell you, my dear MommyGinger.com readers. I have just been so busy lately. How busy? I hibernated yesterday (that busy!). I slept at 6pm and got up at 9 am the next day. I haven’t slept like that ever — EVER! But  anyway, back to the topic. This is something that is very, very important to me.

For Feature

I’m so happy that I have finally launched it! I have prepared for a very long time for this. I didn’t expect that creating videos can take so much time and effort. I thought it was just something like uploading a video from my phone, but since we (the team) want to give you great content, we took the time to edit it and make it really informative.

I know how hard it is to finally take that leap into entrepreneurship. It takes a lot of guts and planning. I know that for those who do not have experience handling a business or for those who didn’t get to have any business subjects back in college, this would even be harder.

I created GTV so that I can share with you my experiences and so that other people can also share what they have learned and share their own experiences, too.

Here is episode 1 of GTV Channel where I talk about the purpose of GTV.

I hope that you can subscribe to GTV Channel (http://bit.ly/gtvchannel) and please tell your friends about it! Also, please comment on this page and leave questions that you would want me to answer in one of the videos. Also, if you want to be featured or if you want your brand to be featured, please contact me at contact@gingerarboleda.com.

Launching GTV — oh yeah!

That isn’t a great title for this post… Haha! Who places ‘oh yeah’ in a title of an article? I used to question a lot of things too, especially those done outside of rules that we know — rules that we have adhered to for the longest time. And then, I realized that sometimes, I would just follow because I was scared of being different. If I did it this way, people might think I was crazy. If I did things that way instead, people might think that I’m a bit too much (either a non-conformist rebel or a fame-hungry biatch). I realized that a lot of things that I did was just so as to conform and to be exactly like the others. By doing this, I panicked because I wasn’t achieving anything — I wasn’t happy, I wasn’t moving at the pace I wanted, and most importantly, my goal of helping 500 Filipino entrepreneurs start their own businesses by 2020 was becoming unattainable. I needed to move fast.

Why do I want to achieve this number?
If we, the Philippines, want to stay competitive, especially with the ASEAN Integration, we need to show the world that our economy is improving. The best way to help, in our own little way, is to create jobs for the unemployed. Jobs can be made if businesses succeed. If I can help aspiring entrepreneurs create 500 new businesses by 2020, given a conservative figure of 5 people per company, that will generate 2,500 jobs. I think that’s not bad for my own goal.

Why care so much?
If my daughter will live in a generation where the parents of these children have secured their children’s futures financially, and have concentrated on bringing up their children to be morally upright, independent, confident, happy and caring individuals, I will be happy. If i can help some people from our generation (probably the parentsof these batchmates of my daughter) achieve their entrepreneurial dreams, then maybe the future will be brighter. There is so much going on in the world (and country) today — violence, hunger, hatred that I think the least I could do is concentrate on things that would be of service to the country and the world even.

GTV Love the Leap

Launch of GTV
Fear is useless. That’s what I kept on telling myself during the past months of busily preparing for the launch of this YouTube Channel called GTV: Love the Leap. I created GTV with the purpose of trying to reach more aspiring entrepreneurs and those who want to start their own businesses all around the globe. I have been creating offline workshops, but I wanted to do so much more. I then thought that YouTube would be a good platform which I could use to reach more Filipinos all over the world. Each episode would deal with specific topics like digital marketing, branding, payment channels, etc. For each episode, it would either be me talking about my own experiences or I might have a guest/s that will contribute and share their ideas.

My Personal Challenges
I’m not really comfortable at speaking in front of the camera. I really admire how the likes of my idols Marie Forleo, Ramit Sethi, etc. do it. The shoot for the teaser, where I didn’t have to speak, was pretty easy. What was really difficult was the first day of the shoot for the episodes. Oh my! I had so many takes! I really appreciate my production team headed by my good friend, April Reyles (btw, she is a really really good producer — hire her!) and Joshua Reyles (and of course with my dear husband, Ej) because without them, I couldn’t have pulled this off. They were very professional and very patient with me. They understood that I wasn’t used to this kind of a thing. Oh my gosh! I really never knew that speaking in front of the camera as compared to speaking in a conference would be more difficult!

Can you feel the stress building up in this picture? haha!
