Whatuuup?! Learning about Game Streaming

Learn more about game streaming
Mommy Ginger learns about Game Streaming

I found a new hobby! Once in a blue moon (or more often than that actually), I discover hobby, then I get really INTO IT. When I say I get into it, I become obsessed with it on a different level. LOL! Yes, I am that kind of person. Scary right?

I was just kidding. The word that I wanted to use was that I grow to love some things and I become passionate about it. A few of months back, I stumbled upon game streaming. Let me share with you first how we (hubby and I) got into this.

Separation of Work and Play

Like other people during quarantine, we shifted to a work from home arrangement for all our employees. As EJ and I work in the same company, live in the same house, and so happened to have a child together (again… kidding! Obviously we are married 😄), we found it initially difficult to draw the line between work and personal / family life. So we did what any geeky couple would do, we experimented.

We needed to find a way to turn off “work mode” when it was time for family and we needed to shift back when it was time for work. So we started with designating spaces in the home for work and spaces for family.

Office Space at home
Our Daughter’s Study area and dining table

It helped a little but that didn’t stop little ol’ me from still talking about work in areas of the house where we shouldn’t. So that made me realize that I needed something that pre-occupies my brain, because I am that type of person who suddenly gets ideas on how to improve processes for work while in the middle of watching Crash Landing on You, It’s Okay Not to Be Okay or SNL. I needed to find a hobby that needed brain power.

This is the reason why I probably loved playing boardgames with friends on Friday nights prior to pandemic. I had to strategize. I admit… I’m pretty competitive. Gosh, I miss those days when we can just sit for hours while playing.

How I stumbled upon Game Streaming

But I digress. So going back, I tried playing Animal Crossing on Zeeka’s Nintendo Switch. And, I loved it! I would play it everyday. I would join groups and to this day, I am a member of several communities and Discord groups. EJ and I met great people there and they became friends — whom we never met in person and only interacted with online (yes, that is possible… haha! I say this to people who are skeptical about meeting friends online.)

We were so into it that we also created a Mystery Game on Animal Crossing called the Arbolandia Mystery Series:

Case 1: Arson in Arbolandia

Trrrutttt…. (my attempt to make a fast forward sound) fast forward to months after. I started Animal Crossing Island tour videos on YouTue. I started watching streamers and saw different games. Then stumbled upon a game called Phasmophobia (Shoutout to my friend Kat… follow her here: https://www.facebook.com/mayorakatstream) that got me interested. I told EJ about the game and we played it. We also tried to stream it! haha!

For those who don’t know, Phasmophobia is a deduction game where you find what type of ghost you are dealing with and try to achieve certain objectives. Players are professional ghost hunters looking for contracts. You can play solo (solo runs) or you can look for teammates (again friends or people who you have never met).

Check out our first attempt to figure out how this game works:

EJ and I loved it and we started streaming regularly. We go live and stream on weekdays at 7:30PM (GMT +8) and longer times on weekends (usually after 12:00 noon (GMT +8).

We just love it. I had to say that again. We’ve met amazing people and streamers like Von https://www.facebook.com/Dsector123, Psyver, Shredz https://www.facebook.com/ShredzPH, Epic Delta (https://www.facebook.com/EPIC.DELTA.EP) and other gamers from the Philippines, MandyMermaid from Glasgow, Spinal (https://www.facebook.com/gaming/spinalgaming138/), SoreFeet (https://www.facebook.com/SoreFeetLive/videos/225912582461858), Bytes (https://www.facebook.com/BytesGigGaming) and other people!

What I plan to do!

So, you will be seeing a lot of gameplay videos from me. If you haven’t followed my steam yet, please click on FOLLOW on this page https://www.facebook.com/teamarbo/ (switching from Mommy Ginger) I am also on Twitch (I just started so please do send some love my following me: https://www.twitch.tv/teamarbogaming and on Youtube.com.

I plan to keep on streaming, and it’s for us. It keeps us sane during these times. It’s ironic that a horror game can give us that.

I also plan to study how game streaming works in terms of monetizing the channel. That’s interesting for me. I also plan to build my own PC this year! I’ll see if I can do it by myself.

So stay tuned for more learnings on this blog. I will definitely share what I discover and uncover when it comes to monetizing this.

If you are earning from game streaming, feel free to drop tips below! 🙂 And to those who want to learn how to earn from playing games, stay tuned for more content.

Have a great day and see you in one of our sessions!

My Birthday Wish is to be MAD!

I’m 34 and I think I’m pretty happy with my life. Wait! That didn’t sound right. I AM HAPPY with my life. I am blessed with a loving family, a wonderful husband, a cute little daughter, good friends, a great team and supportive readers. I guess I’m in the point of my life where I want to give back to society, so with that…

My birthday wish is to be MAD or rather, to MAD or Make a Difference! And I hope you will join me after I share this story…

Enzo is the son of my friends, Me-ann and Ariel. M.A.D. for Enzo’s Cause was launched in October 2011 as a thanksgiving by my friends for the blessings that they have received. You see, Enzo was born with a hole in his heart but at 8 months, he was miraculously healed. Because of this, they decided to launch this cause which we named after him. This advocacy is something that they really want to spearhead since my friend, Me-ann also had the same conditions and needed and underwent an operation.

Make a Difference!

Make a Difference!

What they have done is they turned their son’s birthday parties into a fundraising event wherein family and friends give donations instead of gifts. Beneficiaries of their cause are social services patients –most of their expenses are paid for already through government support but they still have minimal costs to shoulder, ranging from P6,500 to P40,000.

To-date, the Becina family has helped a total of 17 kids of various ages coming from different parts of the country. They always try to visit these kids to get to know their story and to tell them about Enzo and Me-anne’s story. After three years of doing this, they are still doing it because it has become more than just a thanksgiving gesture now. It has become more of a mission to promote the act of paying it forward. What I admire most about this family is that they are the only family I know who is doing these things for these children.  “We may not be financially rich but we have a big heart overflowing with the desire to promote helping our fellowmen. I have always believed in the goodness of people. Imagine if every person would vow to help, I am sure that act of goodness will make a whole lot of difference in the world”, Me-ann said.

The Becina family has committed to a target of 50 kids by the time their son turns 7 (October 2017), they have been creative with their fundraising activities. “My son tried in the past to sell golden retriever pups, we gave away soda alkansya with the caption: “It takes only a little… to change a child’s life forever,” and soon, we will be launching our biggest project called Sponsor a Child Program wherein for only P10,000, not only do you get to sponsor a child but you also experience visiting the child with us. Each encounter may just last for about 20 minutes but it will definitely be life-changing”, Me-ann shares.

I have chosen to support this charity this year for my birthday. I hope that you can join me in making a difference! If you want to donate, please email me at ginger(at)mommyginger(dot)com and I will hook you up with Me-ann 🙂

How do you use Water Responsibly? (Promo from Manila Water)

In our household, because of how busy we all are nowadays, we tend to just skip over things that we need to oversee. These things are important and can make a huge impact in what we do or in making the world a better place to live in. Some samples are I used to keep track of our electricity consumption on a per month basis, but I get to the point when I’m tired of monitoring it so I stop. Also, I monitor our grocery expenses, but since I found out that we normally spend Php 3500 per week, I stopped monitoring and just set aside that amount for grocery shopping. Another thing that I used to be anal about was water consumption. I used to really check that our bill would not go over a certain amount and I would talk to the helpers if I received bills over the target budget. Nowadays though, I’m less anal about it.

But you know, being conscious of how we spend resources like these are important, not only for our own wallets, but even for society. For electricity, why do you think we have the likes of Earth Hour? For food, we oftentimes tell our children not to waste food, but do we ourselves abide by our own rules. For water, do we use water responsibly? There are a lot of people in our country with no access to the water supply that we have so we need to be thankful and use water responsibly.

So with this, Mommy Ginger and Manila Water is running a campaign called Use Water Responsibly. We would like those on Twitter to help us spread the word and use #usewaterresponsibly when you share tips on how to conserve water.

All you need to do is share a tip on twitter or write the hashtag in a piece of paper and take a photo of you holding the sign and share it on twitter. Don’t forget to tag @manilawaterph and @mommyginj.

To get people excited about this, we are running a promo where you will get very nice prizes from Manila Water. All you need to do is to follow the steps in this widget:

Mommy Ginger’s First Anniversary: Giving Back to Society

I can’t believe it that Mommy Ginger is already 1 year old this January. I’m actually very proud of what this site has accomplished in such a short time. In just one year, this site got a page rank 1 from Google (which normally takes years), an Alexa ranking of 2,660 in the Philippines (that means, i’m the 2660th site in our country among the millions of websites) and 480,218 in the world. For our social media pages, I got more than 4000 fans in Facebook, 745 in Twitter and 1100+ in Instagram.

And I owe it to all of you who continuously support my blog  and to the Lord up above. I thank Him for all of these achievements and blessings. Like any one, the past year for my blog has been filled with ups and downs — days when I’m inspired to write and days when I don’t feel like writing at all because of problems that beset me. But what keeps me going is the thought that I get to help others by sharing my own experiences, which I learned from and which I hope you, readers, will find value in.

With MommyGinger.com, I have met other mom bloggers and have gained a lot of new friends. I have also gained friends from the brands, sponsors and PR agencies that I have worked with. I have shared with you bits and pieces about my life and I have taken you with me as I journeyed through how I dealt with situations as a new mom to Zeeka. I hope you enjoyed the ride with me!

I also got to discover who I am and what Mommy Ginger wants to achieve this year and in the next few years. I want to give back to society, and I plan to do that by coaching as many women entrepreneurs and mompreneurs as possible.

I believe that there are a lot of women out there who are actually cut out to be entrepreneurs. They want to become one but don’t know how to be one. Mommy Ginger, through this site and through coaching sessions and through some workshops under the WAHMderful Life series, plans to help you achieve your dream of becoming an entrepreneur!

mompreneur

For this anniversary, I am raffling off three 1-time coaching sessions to three lucky individuals. This coaching session is the first out of my 5 part coaching session that I conduct with entrepreneurs. A coaching session lasts 90 minutes and it will be at CBTL Burgos Circle at your preferred schedule. All you have to do is follow the rafflecopter steps below.

Aside from this initiative of giving back to the society helping develop successful mompreneurs and women entrepreneurs, I also asked the support of some brands to give back to our society. This January, instead of having a big blog contest with lots of prizes, Mommy Ginger has opted to ask for donations of Vitameal bags for the Nourish the Children Foundation from advertisers, partners and mompreneur friends. A bag of Vitameal can provide for 30 meals for these starving children especially those affected by Typhoon Yolanda. Here are some information about Vitameal: Vitameal Fact Sheet

Here are the brands that donated and helped me help the children affected by Typhoon Yolanda:

The Mommy Ginger Blog: Featuring the Momtrepreneur in All of Us

Last December, I wrote my Life List and you can see it in one of the tabs in this blog. One of my goals in life is to have my own mommy blog. I never thought of starting one yet during the past years, because obviously, I wasn’t a mom yet. Now that I am 7 months pregnant, technically, I’m already a mom to this little girl inside my tummy, so I thought of already launching MommyGinger.com.

There are four main tabs in MommyGinger.com. We have Business, Family, Reviews and Momtrepreneurs. Just like any blog, no matter how clearly I specify each topic to be separate from the other, I know that there will always be an overlap. The entries will be stories about my life as a mom and as a momtrepreneur, and just like life, everything is intertwined. But, just for purposes being organized, the categories are there for me…:

Family: to share stories about my loving husband, EJ and my soon-to-be-born daughter, Zeeka.

Business: to share tips on Business and Marketing. It has always been a dream of mine to mentor momtrepreneurs who want to start their own businesses. This is a forte of mine. I graduated with an MA in Communications Major in Intergrated Marketing Communications. I have had experience in advertising, the food industry, banking (sales, product management and product development) and even delved into being a social entrepreneur for a year. I have my own business now called Manila Workshops and have been a professional blogger for almost 5 years.

Reviews: to share product reviews and feedback on different things — things that my family and I would use.

Momtrepreneurs: to share inspirational stories of these multitasking super moms who have their own businesses and who are the main drivers of these businesses. I have been blessed to meet, talk and email these women!

As you can see, the focus is really on empowering momtrepreneurs and giving them a voice through my blog, Mommy Ginger. It is really about discussing the realities of mixing mommy-hood with being a momtrepreneur. It aims to feature the momtrepreneur in all of us 🙂

I hope that you follow me in my journey as I share fascinating stories about my mommy-hood, share business and marketing tips for momtrepreneurs like me and share inspiring stories of other momtrepreneurs! Feel free to comment and share ideas with me! I’d love to hear from you and would love to get to know you all!

Love lots,

Mommy Ginger
