Each day that you come home, do you feel relaxed and at peace? Do you feel that your home is a place where you can relax, feel safe and secure? There was a time two months ago when I felt so stressed even while at home. Thinking about the reason why this was the case, it knew that it was because of all the things scattered around the house. Our things were a mess — therefore, I felt my life was a mess, too.

I know it may sound ridiculous to you, but studies really show that a messy home or office hampers productivity. Since I work from home, this is important to me. Luckily, I have a friend who is a consultant for people who want to tidy up their home using the Konmari Method.

The Konmari Method was developed by Marie Kondo. She’s the author of The Life Changing Magic of Tidying: A Simple, Effective Way To Banish Clutter Forever and Spark Joy, Her method is being used widely by people who want to declutter their homes. I actually started decluttering using Marie Kondo’s method since last month. I haven’t finished yet, because it’s been soooo hard letting go of stuff! But I seriously believe in the KonMari Method and how it transforms our homes into peaceful, inspiring spaces.

So are you ready? Here are the steps:

1. Visualize your picture perfect home! Yes, everything starts from knowing how you want your home to look. Also, visualize the lifestyle that you want. Then ask yourself why you want to live a life like this. In business, the WHYs are important. In decluttering, your WHYs are important, too!

2. Declutter by category, not by part of the house. The KonMari Method says follow these categories: CLOTHES then BOOKS then PAPER then KOMONO (miscellaneous items) then SENTIMENTAL ITEMS. Marie explains further in detail each category into sub-categories.

3. The way to tidy-up is to place all items from one category in a spot in your home and only keep items that spark joy! Instead of throwing items away, be sure to thank them for the memories and happiness that each item gave. If you are unsure whether an item sparks joy, hold it and hug it! The KonMari method is a very emotional process..
After you tidy up, this is when you think about the proper storage.

I’m so bad though, because I skipped PAPER! Haha! So I finished tidying up my clothes and went straight to tidying up my kitchen. Before you judge me for not following the KonMari Method, the reason why I really wanted to fix the kitchen was because this is where we cook and prepare food. Also, this is the part that is exposed to a lot of house guests. We usually have boardgame nights, so I really want my kitchen to be picture perfect, neat and clean.

These were the before pictures of my kitchen. As you can see, we have been using a lot of stuff here for 5 years already. It was time to buy new things!

As you can see, I badly needed new pots and pans, a new oven, etc. Also, I didn’t get to take a picture of the insides of the cabinets, but they were all a mess!

Here I am tidying up:

After this, I went to S&R Membership Club to look for things that “sparked joy”. It was perfect since they were having the S&R Members Treat — the time when you can get a lot of things at affordable prices (some even drop to as low as 50%).

I feel so refreshed! I did some decluttering in my home, and I’m so eager to face the day. It feels different when you see that your cabinets and drawers are so organized. It seems like they can breathe more, and you can breathe more 🙂 One of the things that we can do to save money is to hold a “garage” sale. In my case, it was more like a sala sale! Check out how my house looked for the past days.

My friend taught me the KonMari Method, where you only choose the things that spark joy. I was surprised that I owned so much stuff! I am putting away around 2 balikbayan boxes of clothes. We just started tidying up our clothes, since we’re doing it per category. I’ve been earning (at least a little) from selling my pre-loved items, and I feel amazing. The little that I earn from the clothes that I owned can be used to buy things that will really spark joy. Now, I am more intentional when I shop. I see to it that I really want it. Speaking of shopping and savings, another way that you can save while getting the things that you really want during this month of July is to visit S&R Membership Club! Oh my! They are offering huge discounts on several items — and really quality items. Check out these items that I’m looking at buying. I have actually bought a few already 🙂

PS. I’ll blog about the KonMari Method in another post 🙂

Here it is! Father’s day is fast approaching and I’m sure there a lot of wives and moms who are still thinking of what to give their husbands as a Father’s day gift. Well, fear not, for I have done all the canvassing myself, and I did it half a day. As you all may know, I am not feeling too good and yesterday, the doctors have told me that I have upper and lower respiratory track infection. Woohooo! Lucky me, right. Aside from playing Everwing, I just lie in bed, because once I start working and blogging, in just a few minutes, I’m tired again, and my abs (uhuh!) hurt from coughing. So, anyway, lucky for me, I got to do this canvassing and shopping last week.

I did all of my canvassing and shopping at S&R Membership Club. So here are my top picks for dad:

Daddy needs to look most handsome always. I think that both men and women need to groom themselves and look their best even if they’re married. For daddy, I found this WAHL Home Products Home Pro. This is a complete haircutting and touch-up kit. This set is only at Php 1499 (marked down from Php 2599.00).

Another product hat I saw is this item from Philips. If your man requires a close shaved hair style, they can use this shaver. This Philips Multi-groom & battery operated shaver is only at Php 2498.

The third item on my list is the On Time Wall Clock. This comes in different colors. It’s only at Php 899.95. This will be the perfect gift for the lolos, too!

The next two items are for those dad who always have their friend over at home. To inject sophistication to the parties that we have at home and to make our guests feel special, I think this Five Piece Decanter Set from Sommelier or the Circleware Barware Beer Set (from Php 899.95 now Php 699.95) will be the perfect choices. Both will appreciated and used by your man!

Speaking of parties, what are parties without alcohol! Let me give you some of the best brands with amazing deals that I have seen at S&R Membership Club:

These are the brands that you can get for Dad! Now going back to my list. Next up is this really affordable and durable Men’s Chino Pant from Kirkland. It’s now at Php 899 from Php 1299. S&R Membership club also have these Bridgeport PJ Set!

Next item in my Father’s Day Gift list is this Hampton Forge Magnetic Knife Strip. My husband took cooking classes for knife skills before at Enderun. Ever since that time, he always wanted to have a magnetic knife strip to hold the knives in the kitchen. Check this out! It’s only Php 349.95 from Php 449.95.

The next items in my list for Father’s day gift choices are these towels made especially for dad. These cotton towels are at Php 399 each!

And last but not the least amongst all of these choices, I have dad’s bath favorites! Both the Dial Soothing Care Body Wash (Php 299.95) and the Axe White Label Forest Body Wash (Php 499.95) is at Buy One Take One!

So these are my top picks for Father’s day. Do check out S&R Membership Club and see what you’re top picks are. Share them with us using #LoveSnR and #SnREveryday.

But wait, before you go, I’d like to share with you my food pick for this month. I love Chicken, and I think my friends and family know that. So imagine me going crazy when I saw these!

These chicken variants are the bomb! Naturally, upon seeing this, I did what any sane person would do.

I got all of the flavors. Now, that I am at home and resting, I got to finish one whole pack of the Hot n’ Spicy variant. Yes, I finished it by myself.

What I loved about it is that the chicken was still so fresh. It wasn’t bloody at all when cooked. The meat was very soft and juicy. What I did was I bought ranch dressing and used it as sauce for this variant. I’ll share with you soon what my favorite will be after I go through all of the variants. Haha! But honestly, this was a good purchase in my opinion.

So that’t is for today! I hope you liked all of my suggestions for your Father’s day gift and for the chicken (haha!). Talk to you soon!

There is a constant clamor for content that push women to believe that they can be anything and everything that they want to be. They are capable of taking on multiple roles — being a wife or mother and at the same time, someone who contributes a great deal in the home and in society. Because of this, women have continuously built self-confidence and boosted the spirits of other ladies in their circle. Most of them have taken upon themselves tasks and responsibilities that people deemed impossible to do. It’s truly a whole new world.

My fair lady! 🙂 Seeing confidence in little ladies, too!

As a woman and mother, there are times, too, that I break down. In a moment when I fail living up to the expectations of others, I shatter. Even if I know that other people’s expectations shouldn’t matter, I myself am confronted by my own self-judgements. What we should all look into is loving ourselves and forgiving ourselves. We are all super women, but we can’t feel super all the time. And that’s just how life works.

It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to tell your spouse that you really can’t handle the pressure. It’s okay to call your mom to temporarily ask her to look after the kids. It’s okay to ask help from your nanny. It’s okay to let yourself loose sometimes in order not to lose yourself.

Making things efficient and quick at home, too, can be another strategy that you can do. I found some stuff at S&R Membership Club that can help you get things done quickly and with the utmost quality that your family deserves!

Bread Toaster from Imarflex — it can toast up to 4 slices at a time! (Only at Php 2100 from Php 2300+)

DeliChef Bread Maker — because your family deserves the best! (Only Php 4500 from Php 6000)

Be inspired to cook with the futuristic design of this Simple Touch Digital Air Cooker at Php 7995.

Tyler Digital Ecosmart Carousel Fan only at Pp 4500 from Php 9000! Big Savings!

Jars with “chalkboards” for easy labeling, so you don’t have to scramble for stuff!

Denmark Non-Stick Steel Paella Pan, so you can cook for your entire family!

Thomson Crusty Chef Pizza Maker, so you can make your own pizza!

You need all the help you can get, ladies — be it from tools and equipment like these or from people who truly love us. I hope you had an enjoyable Mother’s day! I actually had a spectacular S&R Mother’s Day! Seriously, I went shopping on that day. This was the time when I had all of these reflections.

So, talk to you soon!

Lots of love,

Mommy Ginger

PS. If you need to cakes to your loved ones, check out this section in S&R Membership Club! They can customize messages!

This weather has got me looking for an air-conditioned space most of the time. I’m always inside malls. I leave the house to work elsewhere (it’s good that I co-work at Impact Hub in BGC), because turning on the aircon is becoming costly. I have looked for activities for Zeeka to do outside the house, so she won’t feel hot at home, too.

One of my favourite places to go to is S&R in BGC. S&R in BGC has it all, from good food. You can swing by and hangout while munching on their delicious pizza slices, calzone or (my favourite!) baked chicken rolls. They also have a featured dish every month and for this month, S&R brings you an overload of sweetness with their SMORES pizza!

For this month, in their store, they have amazing stuff that will help you beat the heat. Here are my top picks from S&R!

MAUI Stream Machine Water Cannon (Php 1199.95 now Php 1049.00)

Lloyd’s Spareribs 2Lbs with BBQ Sauce (Php 919 now Php 899.00)

Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (Php 329 each now Php 249.00)

Mr. Coffee Thermal Bottle (Buy One Take One at Php 499.95)

Armada Sport 70 at 185G (Php 2439 with FREE VMV Hypoallergenic products)

Aside from these products from S&R that make me smile, I will share with you tips on how to stay cool this summer!

Tip #1: Keep yourself well hydrated. We run the risk of dehydration. I already know of a couple of kids who were admitted to the hospital because of dehydration. Bring a bottle of water every time. The insulated thermal bottle above from my top picks from S&R list can keep your water cool for hours.

Tip #2: Position your fan well. Face your fan out, rather than in your room. With this, your room will stay cooler!

Tip #3: Exercise to let the bad vibes out! I have notices that I am always in a bad mood, because of this heat. What I do to destress and relax is to exercise using breathable clothing. I always want to feel comfortable when I exercise. I usually get home at 6:00 pm, so I just change and go out for a run. Running at around 6:00 pm onwards is the perfect time for me, because at least it’s a bit cooler than the rest of the day.

Tip #4: At home, have an ice pack ready for use. If you feel hot, just grab the ice pack and use it!

Tip #5: Have different kinds of drinks of cold drinks available in your home and inside your ref to entice you to drink more. We have these different bottled drinks at home, which we all got from S&R Membership Club.

So these are a few tips that I personally attest to to beat the heat! Do you have any other tips that you would like to share? Or, do you like to add to my Top Picks from S&R list? Share it with me using #LoveSnR and #SnREveryday
